That damned Development

What's Mallard raving about today?

Honestly, after the lightweight display put on by the Media during the Weiner saga, this is the best you can do?

This just in....
Bruce puts in less effort at his "job" today than a Kardashian. He even forgot to say "of the Democrat party." He exists, and that is all he needs to do to get that fat Moonie paycheck, and laugh all the way to rehab.

My local paper today ran a letter to the editor from a reader who took exception to Brucie's odious brainfart of June 11 (in which Mallard claimed, based on nothing, that liberals are comparing "education reform" to the Holocaust) and questioned why the paper continues to run the strip.

No answer was offered, but I think we all know what it is (rhymes with "ringrut relfare").

And it looks like Brucie's laziness is rubbing off on the colorist; he/she couldn't even be bothered to fill in today's blank background with a dull gray (you know, to match the sticky fog that substitutes for Mallard's brain).

Mallard's correct. Larry Craig, David Vitter, Arnold Schwarzenegger, John Ensign, Mark Sanford, and Mark Foley haven't done anything today.

You know what really would make headlines? If Mallard Fillmore went a week without using this same joke; or, if it was funny.

Those clowns in Congress are at it again. What a bunch of clowns.

Mallard creepy self realization:

Admitting he actively looks for twitter/internet pictures of politicians genetalia so he can crow about it later.

I find myself in the odd position of *liking* today's Mallard Fillmore.
OK, the art isn't great and the writing could be tightened up, but the *basic*point* seems to be very important: that the corporate media "news" focusses on stupid stuff instead of things that matter.

How many servicemembers died today, and for what? Who knows ...

... y'all saw how the media was drooling in anticipation of Nancy Pelosi's regularly scheduled press conference, eagerly anticipating what she'd say about Wienergate, and then when she said she was going to talk about job creating and not Wiener, they all cut away. And then they talked about how she didn't talk about Wiener.

It fit today's "comic" perfectly. Perhaps conservatives and liberals can agree on this: the corporate media serves neither of us.

This just in. Those clowns in Congress are not at it today. What a bunch of not-clowns.

Thursday: Mallard continues to mine the rich vein of "didn't happen" humor with another laff riot about something that didn't happen. I'm hoping he'll take this to its logical conclusion and have the whole strip not happen. That would be, comparatively, funny.

That is the basis of more than 50% of Mallard Fillmore.

I have to agree with rewinn on this one. Ignoring the miserable (as always) construction of the comic, the underlying sentiment (not sure it qualifies as a "joke") is reasonably accurate.

The jarring cutaway from the Pelosi presser as soon as she started talking about something else (jobs, IIRC -- who the hell cares about THAT?) was the dead giveaway for me.

It was just icing on the cake to hear one of the talking empty heads (I think it was Wolf Blitzer) then go on at some length about how he really wished he could be talking about something besides Weiner's wiener -- like he couldn't just do that anyway.

Is there anyone anywhere, regardless of political persuasion, who can honestly say the Fourth Estate is actually doing its job properly?
