That damned Golf

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama

So we're making fun of President Obama for golfing now?

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel, eh?

Of course Bush didn't golf as much as Obama. He was too busy clearing brush on his ranch.

Really though, this obsession with Obama's golfing is rather strange. Considering that the right seems to think that every single thing the man does is destroying America, you'd think they'd be grateful about him taking time away from his duties.

Fun Fact: This ad hominem argument only serves to prove that Mallard is ignoring some major details, specifically that George W. publicly stated he gave up golf in August 2003 because solidarity with the troops or whatever. Obama made no such promise, and shouldn't be expected to, so naturally Obama would have played more.

Also, there's the fact that golf is a slow, methodical game requiring no real thought with lots of downtime, the perfect opportunity to think about important presidential decisions, and a game only takes, what, three, four hours, so it's not that big of deal.

Why, I'll bet Obama even goes to the bathroom! In fact, I'll bet he makes NUMBER TWO! What a bastard!!

In his first two years in office, Obama has spent 52 days on vacation. In his eight years in office, Bush took 1,020 days -- or an average of 127 days EACH YEAR.

Also, in his first two years in office, Obama has spent about ten days fucking us over. Bush spent all 730.

I find that a Roger Ebert comment about barrels, in connection with Tom Green's directorial debut, tends to leap irresistibly to mind.

WV: iderp. These are the jokes, folks.

"Mallard Fillmore is relevant, cutting-edge savvy political humor! Now watch this drivel!"

I'd say it's an improvement that Dimsley filled most of the space in this comic strip with "art""work", and relegated the usual giant block of text to small margin print usually reserved for a single-word "citation", but... is it really?

Now watch this drive.

Look at the bright side:
At least when he's golfing, he's not bombing any more countries or extending the Patriot Act yet again.

We appreciate your Concern, anon, but this is not a blog for general critique, even legitimate, of Obama's performance as President. For that, you want Firedoglake. This is a blog for discussing Bruce Tinsley's performance as a cartoonist, or rather his failure as a cartoonist and his performance as a disseminator of the right wing noise machine's talking points, a field in which he's far inferior to other wholly-owned and -operated mouthpieces such as Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and the Republican Party.

Golly! With searingly trenchant political insight like this, it's a wonder Brucie doesn't have his own right-wing radio show -- or at least a contributor position on Hannity.

If Obama does nothing, he's wrong.

If Obama does something, he's wrong.

I certainly have disagreements with many of Obama's policies ... in general, he's governing too much like a Republican ... but to criticize a man who is otherwise moderately successful for playing a reasonable amount of sports is just silly. How useful the "yawn" checkbox!

So we're just going to ignore Bush's "We will get those terrorists,Now watch this shot" arn't we bruce?

Beef Wellington, he ignored it until he figured out that he could say Obama played more golf, and now it's just fine because even though Obama never ignored terrorist warnings or used his own security failures as an excuse for a power grab, he can now be pointed at as worse than Bush because Tinsley never cared about any of that stuff anyway.
