That damned Imbalance

What's Mallard raving about today?

Racism, Jeremy Lin, The Media

On days like today, I wonder if Mallard acts deliberately obtuse because he sees it as his role to be an agent provocateur or whether Mallard is just dumb as a bag of hammers.

Anti-Joke Chicken: "The media doesn't say anything like that, let alone 'preach' it. It simply points out that institutional discrimination exists, which makes Tinsley pee all over himself screaming about bias in IWBF (Impotent White Boy's Fury), not unlike how the phrase 'birth control' causes Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly to begin spouting complete and utter horseshit in their abject slobbering ignorance."

Naturally, in pursuit of a way to make this a tirade against "political correctness," Tinsley will pointedly ignore the racism Lin has faced (now to include Tinsley's own Asian-fetishization), the same way in two weeks' time he will defend Limbaugh's bigotry by caterwauling about something Biden said half a decade ago, or how Bill Maher said mean things about Sarah Palin.

I wonder if, in his spare time, Tinsley draws Jeremy Lin laying at his feet, making dust angels.

Why not both?

This reminds me of all the times Tinny has praised pro athletes who are black. Okay, maybe he never did. So it reminds me of his "Chinese eat dogs" comic stylings.

Doubtful. Most of the time he doesn't even bother to draw anything when he's "working." Why would he do it when it's drinkin' time*?

* Defined as any time that's not "passed out o'clock" or "quarter past rolled the car into the ditch."

Tin's not prejudiced at all! He has a couple of Asian characters who validate his worldview whenever they appear. How Tin-credibly magnanimous he is! What a Tin-valuable service he provides.

Oh look, it's THIS premise again.

Let's not forget that Mallard Fillmore only got his "job" at WFDR because of policies meant to address institutional discrimination against "Amphibious-Americans". Implicit is the premise that Mallard wasn't good enough to get the job based on the objective merit of his abilities.

Let's not forget that Bruce Tinsley only got his "job" at King Features Syndicate because of policies meant to address institutional discriminations against "Conservative comic strips". Implicit is the premise that Bruce wasn't good enough to get the job based on the objective merit of his own abilities.

Also, looks like Mallard was suckered into buying a "special commemorative edition" newspaper named Linsanity -- twice the ads and half the content as a regular paper, at only twice the price!

Awesome link, @Tog. Here's a sample ...

"..."Chink in the armor" was ESPN's take not once but twice when the Knicks lost a game last week, both as a headline added by ESPN writer Anthony Federico and then as a phrase used by the anchor Max Bretos (Federico has since been fired and Bretos received a 30-day suspension.) Those two muppets look the height of sophisticated decorum compared with Foxsports.com writer Jason Whitlock, whose response to Lin's triumph over the Lakers on Friday night was to tweet "Some lucky lady in NYC is gonna feel a couple inches of pain tonight", a comment notable for being almost more misogynistic than racist. When the Madison Square Garden Network flashed up a photo of Lin, it superimposed it with a fortune cookie, presumably refraining from adding some chopsticks purely because it didn't have the graphics...."

... reading it taught me something about current events, which can never be said of "Mallard Fillmore"

Is use of the term "Impotent White Boy's Fury" really the progressive way to go here?

Jeez, Anonymous Concern Troll, why don't you suggest a few "progressive ways to go"?

Does "Fuck off, noodle-dicked racist troll" work for you? Since WE'RE the REAL racists, of course!

If Lin ever says something that sounds to Tinny like "I've experienced racism, too" expect Bruce to drop him like a hot potato.

Oh, wait, I should've said "like a hot EGG ROLL!" as he's Chinese, right? How about "Like Tinny dropping Lil Rush when his father comes knocking on Bruce's door"?

The NBA is the media? What?
God, the ellipses! THE ELLIPSES! THEY DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!

Nice combination of a straw man and a over-generalization, Bruce. Yes, ALL the media ALWAYS says this. You sure nailed 'em dead to rights.

Anon: "Also 'pee all over himself' is prejudicial against people with incontinence! WE CAN'T HELP IT! AUGH! SEE WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!?"

I keep on suggesting that Tinsley's a sick pervert and a moron and a drunk...but it's "white boy" that sets off the concern troll?

Hmmm. It would be irresponsible not to speculate!

Elsewhere: Oh, lookit that, the GOP itself is already demanding that Obama "apologize" for Bill Maher saying nasty things about public political figures known for lying and saying nasty things...to compensate for Rush's butthurt after getting spanked for publicly attacking a college student who dared to provide civil testimony.

That was quick. And I'm sure it'll work out just swell, too!

Tog - The stupid, it burns!

I wonder what we might find if we looked into GOP statements about Hilary Clinton?

I mean, if we want to start playing the comparison game, let's go for it.
