That damned Thing

What's Mallard raving about today?

Higher Education, Racism

Mallard Fillmore: proving daily that repeated assertion and fact are not related, no matter how hard you try.

I would love to hear what Tinsley believes to be the motive behind this Liberal Racist Elitist College Anti-Asian conspiracy.

The Bruce Tinsley attack on an institution that wouldn't let him within five miles of it continues (and he isn't even Asan!).

Or Asian!

Hopefully by next week, he'll have reverted back to being angry at colleges for letting in too many African-American students.

The average SAT score for accepted applicants who are black isn't as high as the baseline (which is whites)! They don't deserve it!!!

Is Tinsley attacking Republicans here? I would not consider these particular colleges to have liberals in the upper management.

Does the "cartoonist" really expect his reader to wade through all that garbage text?

I mean, y'all are correctly tearing apart the silly premise, but it's the execution that really hurts. Couldn't Tinshley at least have drawn a couple of pony-tailed liberals nibbling on cheese while crushing Lil Rush under their high heels?

P.S. didja notice how powerfully Mallard Fillmore shapes the national conversation ... in a week where the media's censorship of Doonesbury is continuing the discussion of Texas' State Rape law?

Tog - I think you've got it. Clearly there's no conspiracy against Asians. At American colleges and universities they are overrepresented, like whites are. What Tinsley is objecting to is preferential treatment for blacks and hispanics.
Like when Bush started the TARP bailout, Tinsley thought it was the prudent thing to do. But when Obama, a black man got involved in TARP, you could hear Tinsley scream how it was a socialist plot perpertrated by racist black ministers.

The badly-drawn university building is leaning left. I suppose that's Brucie's idea of symbolism. Either that or he was just too lazy to get up off the floor where he fell asleep, and just drew the strip there with one eye open.

I don't consider universities and college professors to be particularly liberal. It is just that people who are truly educated and have "critical thinking" skills would tend to not agree with the wrong-wingers.

Tog-
You forget that Tinsley has no motives for his many beliefs (other than "does it give me money?"), so he has no reason to think about anyone else's.

It's just "we're right, they're wrong". (Of course, if it turned out Liberty University was doing the same thing, Tinsley would be on the other side of this in a heartbeat.)

OK, I'm baffled. This guy hates every chance brown or black students need to get ahead--in fact, every chance every student needs to get ahead, right up to hating every teacher, every school, every college, so why is he ranting on about Asian students getting specifically into Harvard?

(slaps forehead) Oh, I get it now! That's where the guy who signs Bruce's paychecks sends his kids!

(yeah, I'm probably wrong, but what explanation for his last 2 weeks beyond "I need to keep my welfare checks coming, so I'll suck up to my boss!" do you have?)

Daniel Patrick Moynihan, in his recently published collection of letters, wrote a letter to somebody in the 1970s, the gist of it being, "Yes, college students and faculty are generally left-wing, but this has been historically offset by the fact that college administrators and trustees are generally right-wing." However, Tinsley doesn't brake for nuance.

Umm...That link I gave above goes right to one of Mr Owns-The-Wash-Times sites, so you may not want to click it...He's had a lot of kids in Harvard is all I wanted to point out.

I'm out of things to say on this.
So instead I"ll talk about soup.
I just made some cock-a-leekie soup, and it's damn tasty. Easy to make, as well. Everyone should give it a try, unless you hate chicken or onion-y food. Yum.
