That damned ATF

What's Mallard raving about today?

The ATF

The best you could think of to draw was a duck head with a smirk that practically demands the reader reach out to smack it off?

"See! Government is bad! This proves that such matters are best handled by the unregulated free market, and its very good buddy the NRA!

Remember your training, Bruce! Tell, don't show! Catapult the propaganda. All drawings are really for is to anchor the balloons.

Tinsley shows some skill as a propagandist here--if anyone asks about the "Fast and furious" reference, his knee-jerk,talking point reaction will be, "Of course you didn't hear about it in the liberal mainstream media!"--no matter how obscure the reference is.
WTF is "fast and furious"?

To answer digger's question, Operation Fast and Furious was an ATF operation to use gun shops to track illegal 3-party purchases of guns (particularly assault rifles), with the plan being to catch Mexican cartels in possession of the illegally-purchased weapons. Unfortunately, the ATF lost track of many of the guns, and they have been linked to several crimes, including the murder of a US Borer patrol officer. The head of the ATF resigned over the scandal. There are congressional investigations going on into the operation.

This is definitely a major mistake by the ATF, happening under Pres. Obama's watch. However, the conservative media has tried to suggest that there's more to this, that the White house was directly involved, that this was an attempt (follow closely, because this one requires close attention) to promote gun control, and reinstate the assault weapons band, by showing that drug cartels were getting their guns from the US.

None of this makes the strip any funnier, or saner.

Thanks for the clarification, Andrew. Yes, I did hear about this, from the "liberal" media no doubt. (Perhaps NPR? GASP!)
If Fox and their cronies went after W Bush like they go after Obama, W would surely be in jail now (that would be fair and balanced!)

Way to be timely, guy from The Right Stuff yelling, "It's called Sputnik!!" who now makes political cartoons under the pen name Bruce.

Sting operation went south. Therefore... lol?

The punchline to the Fast And Furious debacle is that the reichwing is now basically arguing that the ATF should have stopped the gun sales.

Right?

Haha, that's hilarious! No wonder the duck has that grin on his face.

This was exactly what it was intended to do. Eric Holder lied and said he had no knowledge of this 'operation'.

Yet a US border patrol officer was murdered with one of these guns and others were found at the scene of the crime. Obama does nothing as usual.

The left wing media did and are still covering the asses of Holder and Obama.

Rep. Allen West a man who I trust, calls for Eric Holder's removal over 'Fast and Furious.'

Now, THAT'S funny!

Annon is right; Obama should have flown into the sky and circled the globe so fast that he turned back time and stopped this operation he mostly likely had no information on.

Or maybe he was completely aware of it, because, as we all know, the president is informed in detail of every single operation and plan that every federal agency is performing.

Hey everybody, look what Anonydildohead just discovered: Guns kill people!

At the very least, guns make the dirty deed remarkably easy...

See? Just like I said. Anonymous Pederast is arguing that the logical outcome of criminals getting American guns is gun control. Or is the logical outcome of criminals getting guns supposed to be selling them more guns?

"...Obama does nothing..."

This is the other thing: Obama is a socialist Kenyan working so hard to destroy America that he does nothing.

It's like he's a Zen master socialist Kenyan: he does everything by doing nothing!

Liberals torn on this one: (1) hate guns, but (2)can't blame Obama for anything.
How about sensible approach:
(1) Unlimited guns not good.
(2) Obama not good.
