That damned Radish

What's Mallard raving about today?

Liberals, Whole Foods

Oh, man. It's going to be a whole week of pithy observations which Mallard thinks are contradictory about Whole Foods shoppers. Wake me next week.

The gas station is fascinating.

It's a place where you can watch a teabagger screaming about "fiscal responsibility*"....

...while paying five dollars for a gallon of gas that he'll burn idling in the driveway because "public transportation is for homos and illegals".......

I suspect that people who hate Mallard have degrees in the following: Art History, Psychology,
Sociology, Dance, Liberal Arts, and other similar studies. Not an engineer among them. My point? Progressives (and only Progressives hold those degrees)will never build bridges, design rockets, or contribute anything to advance civilization.

It's funny because Che Guevara would have wanted field workers to be more equal to consumers, so, ahhh, liberals have funny hair.

Don't feel bad, Mr. Fallmore. I'm sure not all conservatives are nameless cogs. There must be at least a few visionaries among them.

Oh, and congrats to DaveyK on riding the "Comments of the Week" float over at the Comics Curmudgeon with an apt observation about Spider-Man (man of action).

Wait, so the guy with the T-shirt advocating a revolutionary who fought for the rights of Latin Americans is paying a fair-market rate for vegetables rather than ultra-cheap produce that exploits Latin American day laborers?

Oh, and Bachelors in Computer Science here. Although I admit I also took some humanities and social sciences courses, because I actually enjoy the company of people and the things they produce instead of squatting in a dingy basement apartment with spray-paint cans to huff while whacking off to Gap Kids catalogues, like Millard up there does.

I wonder which field of study Millard specializes in, that informs him that all engineers have a single political view or that engineers are solely responsible for the advancement of civilization. (Whatever it may be, it certainly doesn't encourage creative thought. "Millard?" Seriously? Why not "Millard Fallmore?")

You wouldn't HAVE civilization without progressive thought, Bright-Eyes.

Would Bright-Eyes like a ba-na-na?

A rich guy shopping for himself, instead of having a servant do it? Man, that is cutting edge humor.

As for Anonymous Coward: you lose. Nearly all scientists self-identify as politically liberal; only 6% are Republicans. This is probably in part due to the GOP war on science, but also because science teaches you to continually question, question, question ... and if the numbers don't add up, you change your beliefs, not the numbers.

Tinsley would absolutely support Che Guevarra if the latter was white. Guevarra was a murderous dictator and torturer who made thousands of Latin Americans' lives miserable. He helped Fidel Castro, who killed and tortured millions and destroyed the technology of Cuba, rise to power and joined him on a throne of blood. Batista may have been a dictator, but he could not possibly have been worse than Castro or Guevarra. Tinsley only hates them because they are not white and are way too nice for him. My question for Mr. Tinshley, I mean "Millard", is: What contributions have dumb, lazy, ideologically hackish comic strips made towards advancing civilization?

Weirdly enough, I boycott Whole Foods because their management is so reactionary, and actually agrees with Tinsley on everything.

My first comment here.
Millard - Sorry, but I am an engineer. Although I'm shocked that you hold engineers in high regard especially since people like you don't want bridges or any infrastructure built.
Since we're stereotyping, I suspect that people who LIKE Mallard are lazy and shiftless, and spend most of their days kicking and screaming that they will never participate in advancing civilization. In fact you probably collect a welfare check while screaming that it's a waste of tax dollars (although they're not your tax dollars because you're too lazy to work).

Beautiful: Alicublog covers Jonah Goldberg's latest steaming dump about how all the Occupiers are liberulfascistcommienazis, and this is a golden opportunity to make an enemies list as they out themselves on YouTube!!!1

I hope Bright-Eyes will explain to me how Jonah "advances civilization" by using Joe McCarthy's Red Scare tactics to agitate the dim.

It's funny because mallard thinks it's still 1974.

I suspect that you wish you had your GED.

The stereotype "liberal" in MF's head simply does not exist, and the comment by "Millard" confirms it. Most engineers and scientists do not like the wrong-wingers, and TP in particular.

Interesting backlash. You took the bait. Now calm down.

How do you feel about Monty Python?

Millard translated: "Uh, um...I was just kiddin'. I trolled you! It, uh, amuses me to see the fury and outrage and discord I have, um, sown here. U MAD BRO, uh, yeah, you are. I WIN! Huh huh huh huh huh."

Me: *snicker*

Millard said...

Tog, I'll think of you every time Mallard shows liberal thinking for what it is.

Don't forget to vote!

Interesting backlash. You went for the bait like a Republican family-values senator to a glory hole. Stop making wee-wee all over yourself.

...Say, I notice you didn't actually answer any of the questions raised in the responses. What does that say about the thinking of wrong-wing cowards who fancy themselves geniuses?

Batshit "shows liberal thinking for what it is" every day: vastly superior than anything he (or you) has to offer. So hey, go nuts.

Maybe Tin's confused Che with Cesar Chavez. It wouldn't necessarily make more sense, but it would at least be in the same universe with something that could.

I'm thinking of the 60s cartoon of the vaguely radical looking woman at the market who's saying, "Cesar Chavez forgive me; I gotta have a grape."

I'm playing catchup, but I noticed Millard's comment. Hi Millard! Hi dlauthor! Hi TeeSquare! I'm a computer science student, graduating this semester, with a full-time job lined up at a software firm. I am liberal, and I hate Mallard Fillmore. At my company, there's a good mix of liberals and conservatives, but then my firm is in Idaho. In Silicon Valley, you'd be far more likely to find a much larger percentage of software engineers who are progressive. That pretty much goes without saying. By the way, how 'bout them MIT students who decided to show their support for the Occupy protesters by taking their bike-powered electricity generator to Zucotti Park when the cops confiscated the protestors' generators?
