That damned Solyndra

What's Mallard raving about today?

Solyndra

Mallard Fillmore never uttered a single harsh word as Wall Street fell apart when pools of loans went south and took the entire world's economy with it.

He never said a word when the Bush Administration simply lost billions of dollars in Iraq and Afghanistan, with no accounting for where they went.

But he's absolutely aghast over the latest Right Wing non-troversy that 100% of the loan guarantees intended to stimulate America's Green Energy industry have not turned out perfectly.

The hypocrisy and lack of intellectual honesty is simply staggering.

..."Solyndragate."

*sigh* So very, very lazy.

Yes, by all means we should be tossing our money into offshore drilling, gutting the ANWR, fracking, and safe-up-to-a-certain-magnitude nuke plants. They're tried and tested! (Sure they failed the tests, but shutupshutup.)

I don't actually care, but what's the fuss about Solyndra? They got bailed out then declared bankruptcy? Shoddy book keeping?
...Meh?

Once again, if it makes liberals look bad, it's cause for celebration and gloating, perspective be damned.

And yet another strip that's about 80% blank. Way to "earn" that paycheck, Brucie.

No, it's not easy being green. That's precisely why America should do it... If we're going to claim being #1, then shouldn't we also be the best at doing things, like using greener renewable energy sources? Solyndra wasn't a good thing, but it doesn't mean the country should give up and just guzzle oil forever.

You know how I know this is a MAJOR scandal? It has "gate" at the end of it.

**facepalm**

Kip W said...

Steve-O, you are dead on. "-gate"means it's a serious scandal on a par with Republican wrongdoing. If it ended in "-water," it would be one of those non-scandals based on Republican lying about someone else's wrongdoing. I guess even Tin knows which one is more serious.

Say, how many hours and hours of research went into this mighty effort?

So it's OK Obama's buddies at Solyndra got half a billion bucks out of the taxpayers, because Tinsley didn't complain about the economic debacle 3 years ago. I see now, yes, that makes perfect sense. Oh, and complaining about this scandal means you want to kill polar bears.

NotIt said...

No, it means the person in question has no standing to criticize, having abdicated that by virtue of their demonstrated extreme partisanship and intellectual dishonesty on the subject matter.

And you're the first one to mention Polar Bears, so those have to do with your own personal dementia issues.

The thought bubble is emerging... from the white void between Obama's penischin and the newspaper he's reading, which is apparently a broadsheet named after a nonsense phrase "Solyn Dr. Agate" (sp?).

Sloppy, lazy, incompetent cartoonwork.

Clearly, Brewski has no idea what the word "venture" in "venture capital" actually means.

And, of course, let's not mention the fact that Solyndra was reviewed and green-lighted by the Bush Administration.

Even if one assumes that the entire $535 million invested in Solyndra is wasted (i.e., no lessons learned, no useful activity from Solyndra, etc.), that is roughly the amount of spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 33 hours. And we all know how much THAT bothers Brewski.

Anonymous Coward is either lying or ignorant about Solyndra.

1. The biggest investor in Solyndra is a foundation with the same name as someone who donated to the Obama campaign, but they are different people ("corporations are people" means "foundations are people" too, right?)

2. The 2nd biggest investor in Solyndra is the Walton family, conservative Republicans.

3. None of the employees at Solyndra got any taxpayer money. Loan guarantees go to investors, not employees.

I could go on, but why bother? Anonymous Coward will never admit error. But those who like facts can read here

P.S. today's "comic":

1. Lazy drawing

2. Wrong on the facts

3. Badly timed - three weeks later and none-one cares

@rewinn, so in other words it's a day that ends in "Y".

Congratulations, AnonyBruce, you spent more effort farting out that comment than you did on the strip that inspired it.

I can't wait to see Batshit's take on The Koch Brothers' "investment" in Iran in a couple of weeks. Truth to power, right? ...Right?

rewinn said...

@Tog - Brewsky's gotta be wondering why Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck got Koch money from their Iranian deals, but he didn't.

Bruce: when are you gonna get it? You can kiss up to them all you want, and they aren't gonna love you!
