Those damned Fireflies

What's Mallard raving about today?

CFLs

After setting a seemingly impossibly low water mark yesterday, Mallard follows up strong by making absolutely no sense at all. Unless you share his mindless hatred of CFLs, of course.

bioluminescence still takes less power than CFLs

"Must ignore the dead terrorist elephant in the room! The talking points are contradicting themselves and changing daily! Think, Bruce, think! Wait--'environmentalists are shallow!' Comedy gold! Now, Calgon, take me away!" (opens second fifth of research)

This might have been funny in The Far Side. Here it's just clunky.

Baby steps, people. Tinsley just showed a gay couple without preaching about anything except maybe CFLs, and god knows CFLs are evil! Like a holocaust or something. (I read that somewhere.)

Wiley Miller's Non Sequitur was pretty good today (as usual) and demonstrates what a skilled cartoonist can do with the extra space on Sunday.

In contrast, Brews Tinshley draws a single crude panel with a weak comic premise.

The real punchline: "Mallard Fillmore" OWNS "shallow"!

Is "CFL" pronounced /see fail/? Because that's what I do every time I read this strip.
