That damned Groundhog

What's Mallard raving about today?

Groundhogs, Employment

Unemployment is hilarious. But don't fret. There's no need to be concerned about the very poor.

Yeah, Phil, don't worry -- the social safety net is there to catch you. And if there's a hole in the safety net, ol' Mitt will fix it for you. Because if there's one thing Republicans (especially the super-rich ones) can be counted on to do, it's protect the social safety net.

A little while back, I said that Mittens made a fool of himself "pretty much every time he opens that anus on the top of his neck."

I had NO IDEA.

Even more hilarious: Just as Newtered's owners and masters have tried to spin his sociopathic serial adultery as something that makes him "better Presidential material," Mittens' handlers are trying to flog the idea that Romney's inability to think and talk simultaneously makes him more "authentic."

Yeah, thanks, we did the Junior Bush thing already.

But yeah, I don't understand why Batshit haet Mittenz. They both think firing people is awesome and unemployment is hilarious (as long as others are suffering, of course).

Hey, as long as there's Doonesbury, Tinsh never needs to worry about losing his gig. And 'I got mine, screw everyone else' is one bedrock priciple we can expect never to see any flip-flopping on.

Republicans aren't concerned about the poor for the same reason Bush wasn't concerned about bin Laden. They know that after a while, a Democrat will come along and take care of it for them, so they can devote all their energy to stopping that Democrat.

So he saw the unemployment statistics, and THEN was informed that he was no longer needed? As if one follows from the other?

Unless the joke is that there are people so desperate for work that they're willing to dress up in a groundhog costume and look for a shadow. For cheaper than an actual groundhog.

Old Tinsley Logic - Unemployed people are unemployed because they are lazy good for nothings.
New Tinsley Logic - OH NO! Ground Hog Phil lost his job! People are unemployed due to no fault of their own!
HA HA! It's funny because the economy is so bad that even a ground hog lost his job!

oh hey what timing - the day before the announcement that unemployment has fallen to 8.3% (still too high but definitely in the right direction), due to near a quarter-million new private-sector jobs in the latest of 23 consecutive months of private sector job growth.

What's left to complain about, except the fall in public-sector jobs?
