That damned Sleep

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama, Osama Bin Laden

4 years earlier: "George, have you killed Osama Bin L..." "Go back to sleep, Laura."

Mallard: President Obama gave the order to kill Osama Bin Laden at great risk. That order resulted in success. Suck. On. That.

As a commenter on yesterday's strip at SeattlePI.com correctly noted:

In every speech I've ever heard Obama make about the killing of Bin Laden, he has given credit to SEAL Team Six, the military, and everyone else.

So Batshit's not only playing a broken record, he's flat-out lying. This isn't a case of "misspoke," nor judgment clouded by bias; he's lying, he knows he's lying, and he's doing it out of sheer desperation.

I know that's not unusual for Tinsley, but one should always call him on his bullshit.

Tinsley lacks the ability to offend me (very often), but he never ceases to amaze me. Not in a good way, though.

Let's just imagine the football spiking taking place if George W. Bush had killed OBL. We would be subjected to a North Korea style military regalia on each monthly anniversary. So fuck you Tinsley.

OT: If you're not already familiar with "Kelly," the rather sporadic editorial cartoonist at TheOnion, get your ass over there RIGHT NOW. "Kelly" (Ward Sutton) is now making videos about his creative process, relationship with his editor, and how he conveys the threat non-white races pose to Liberty. ...What? It's in Revelations, people!!

Guess who it all makes me think of?

Harp away, Tinsley! Keep reminding your dull-witted readers that, unlike your lot, a Democrat actually accomplished one of the chief goals in Bush's War on Terror, while your side consists of the trio of Woulda, Coulda, and Shoulda.

Tinsley takes Obama to task for constantly reminding everyone that he killed Bin Laden by... constantly reminding everyone that Obama killed Bin Laden.

Great plan, Bruce.

Swiftboating worked on John Kerry because Kerry's too decent a man to think that anyone would believe that garbage.
Obama is also a decent man, but he saw what happened to Kerry and I don't think he'll let the swiftboaters get by.
In the case of the killing of bin Ladn, a good response is to remind everyone that both Romney and McCain opposed sending troops into Pakistan to kill bin Ladn.
So, Bruce Tinshley, ask yourself - when it comes to getting the guy behind 9/11, why are you putting your politics ahead of your patriotism?

Come September, when Romney takes credit over and over and over again for killing Bin Laden - "Yes Mr and Mrs Moderate, when I was filling birth control prescriptions, I went to Pakistan and killed Bin Laden. No really my friend, Obama is lying, trying to rewrite history." - what will Tinsley do then?

Seals slam Obama for using them as 'ammunition' in bid to take credit for bin laden killing during election campaign.

Stop the presses. A Republican State Senator criticizes Obama. Oh, wait, I forgot the exclamation point.

Hey, look, Anonymelonfucker is back. I'm still not clicking on any of your damn links, fuck face.

Anyway, it's not like our current prez ever hijacked an entire aircraft carrier and its crew for a campaign ad claiming he'd accomplished a (completely wrongheaded) mission when he hadn't.

First-rate liberal blogger "Driftglass" put it best:

If Bush had actually done his job and killed Osama bin Laden, the Right would have cleared room for him on Mt. Rushmore. If Bush had killed bin Laden and helped take down Gaddahfi? Over a single summer? Fuck, the Right would this minute be carving his face on the Moon.

Full entry here. The rest of the site is well worth your time, too.

"Hit 'em where they're strong." The motto of the Swift Boaters.

Sadly, we can't respond in kind to Romney, because he's pretty much weak on everything.

Click on a link offered by someone so cowardly that he posts anonymously?

Nope.

Grow some balls, buddy, or ask your mother for some, then maybe your blog post will get read. Meanwhile the simple fact remains: both Romney and McCain criticized Obama over the very idea of sending troops into Pakistan to get bin Ladn. ANYONE can say after the fact, "Oh, yeah, I woulda done that" but guts is making the decision BEFORE you know it'll succeed.

Since Tinsley wishes that the mission had failed, it reveals that he is in fact a secret Muslim!

Obama had taken a great risk, since there was a good chance that the mission could fail, and the helicopter crash almost did just that. If it had failed, then there would have been a Congressional investigation and impeachment. If the mission was not ordered, and then the GOP found out that there could have been an opportunity, then you can bet they would have made a stink.

Let's not forget that President Obama personally insisted on the backup helicopter. That bit of forethought saved the whole mission. There was an excellent story in Vanity Fair detailing the entire mission. Oh, I forgot that morons like Anonytroll only look at the pictures in the Limbaugh Letter.

Anyone interested in the real world, as opposed to tinsley's Take, should read Glenn Greenwald's essay in Salon:

Obama was careful. Learning from Jimmy Carter's mistake, he didn't let Oliver North anywhere near the mission.

Obama: Gives more credit to everyone involved in the successful OBL takedown than he has ever taken for himself.

Junior Bush: Pretended to fly the jet used for his incredibly-wasteful Mission (Un)Accomplished photo-op; guffawed out loud over the casualty-laden failure to find WMDs in Iraq.

The GOP: Castigated Carter and Clinton endlessly for missions gone wrong; defended Junior Bush; madder than hell at Obama for success.

Tinsley: Lies like a pig.

That about covers it.
