That damned College Football

What's Mallard raving about today?

The WGA, College Football.

Today's panel has me feeling amazed in two distinct ways.

First, despite knowing how much Mallard detests both Unions and Hollywood, I am still amazed at how much attention he's paying to the WGA strike.

Second, I'm amazed to hear him say "yet another great thing about College Football" given the fact that we've never heard Mallard say a single good thing about it. His only previous references to College Football have been complaints, usually about the BCS or Boise State.

All those other times we thought Tinsley was beating a dead horse? Warm-ups, baby. Just warm-ups.

Keith Knight schools Tinny on how to do a strip about the writers' strike, and chances are this will be the only strip he does on the subject. I'll say it again: it's the difference between an artist, and a sick hack.

Why is the guy's sock making the comment?

Since the bubble is in the background, I saw it as coming from his knee, but other than that, I was going to say the same thing - why does he insist on drawing it that way, even though there is clearly space in the drawing to make the bubble coming from his head? IT MAKES NO SENSE!

For someone who lectures Americans about too much TV, he certainly invests a lot of time in it.

Strip time, "research" time, and general blobbing time.

Mallard, you are leaving the impression that conservatives are the American fatties. Try swinging back to politics, your pictures of aging men/ducks in front of the boob tube are drawn with much more detail than your other peeves.

Gosh. So much for people having conversations with their families. In spite of everything, I can't help but be amazed that the Tinz was able to draw today's and yesterday's strips ONE AFTER THE OTHER.

Yeah, NW nailed it yesterday. Tinny seems to have adopted a certain TV character's approach to defining family members:

"Televsion! Teacher. Mother. ...Secret lover."
