That damned dinosaur

What's Mallard raving about today?

Dinosaurs, Europe.

Honestly, this almost defies commentary.

Simply juxtaposing a topic which bothers you with Dinosaur extinction is not a formula for, well, anything except extinction (real or metaphoric).

Obama's Europe visit was history by the time this was written (let alone published) and the visit was in no way detrimental to Obama, except among a segment of the population that was/is/will be predisposed against him. So the trip could hardly cause a real or metaphoric extinction.

At a minimum, Mallard, is it too much to ask that you make a modicum of sense?

So...the implication is that conservatives don't like it when our representative to the world is admired abroad?

*brain breaks*

Extinction, eh? Whose currency is poised to become the world standard? When shops in start accepting the Euro, one has to wonder how poorly the US economy is doing.

Oops! "...in Manhattan..." is where I mean.

Actually, i know conservatives who really *do* think that it's a Bad Thing if our president is viewed positively abroad. And yeah, i find that about as stupid as it sounds to most anyone else here.

I think I'm going to start a new feature:

"Let's sink to the level of Mallard:"

Does anyone else find it ironic that someone who supports John McCain dares refer to any other candidate as a "dinosaur"?

STRIP CORRECTION:

Text: "Political commentators now believe they have discovered the exact moment when the delusional perspective of Mallard Fillmore became irreversible."

Dinosaur: "If the use of me as a surrogate for Obama was even remotely applicable, I wouldn’t be extinct."

Why waste bandwidth mocking this hapless complaint ... "Wa-a-a-ah! Obama is popular!" After decades of meaningless culture wars, America's ready to face real issues, which is why Obama's ahead in every poll even though he labors under the handicap of being popular!

Anyway, this is just another lazy Sunday strip: draw a dinosaur talking to a ratlike thing, scrawl some words in a box, and you're done!

PS "...now believe they may..." serves no function and should be deleted.

david b: Yeah, I have relatives who go "McCain must be doing something right if they don't like him!" It's not "logic" in any formal sense; it's just spewing words to justify a previously-established position.

NLC - I agree it's silly for Mallard to encourage comparisons between McCain and dinosaurs, although I think technically in this strip, Mallard is comparing him to a primitive ratlike thing,,,,

I know "huge in Europe" refers to Obama, but hasn't it been said about many singers and actors as well?

Either way, Mallard hates Europe.

It was wrong of Obama to tour European countries. Instead, he should take the true patriotic approach, fly into Europe, and spray-paint

U SUCK

across all the monuments.

Our REAL allies are our nuclear warhead stockpile. Screw the rest of the world. Too hard to get along with. We'd have to speak foreigneze and stuff.

I remember when Obama was attracting crowds in Berlin and the regressive response was typically reductio ad Hitlerum.

Tinsley ought to heed the advice spoken by Robert Downey Jr. in his latest film: "You never go Full Mallard!"
