That damned Heckle

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama, Joe Wilson.

How convenient. I can borrow Joe Wilson's own words to describe what Mallard Fillmore is saying today.

Mallard, you lie.

"I won't elaborate how Obama's description 'differs from the actual bill,' or go into the details of how many people have magically 'become aware' as the result of a moment's boorishness; that would pop my balloon in a second. I'll just rely on you to buy my own lies once again because I'm a lazy turd pretending to be a great truthsayer. Reality has a proven liberal bias, so I spend as little time with it as possible!"

Bruce Tinsley's heckling of the president is rude...disrespectful...

...and makes several dozen readers aware that Tinsley's description of reality is nothing like actual reality...

Being a pathetic drunken loser isn't very pretty.

I think Mallard just acknowledged that death panels, rationed care, and all the other "concerns" that the media has aired repeatedly are in fact not true, and that the only portion of the bill we have to worry about is covering illegal immigrants.

Addison Graves Wilson (not even a real Joe) applogized for his outburst, but never admitted he was wrong on the facts.

Facts don't matter. Ideology trumps reality, every time.

It's easy to understand. Mallard feels that the media's job is to tell lies, which 'Joe the Joe' is now doing for them. Mallard is also part of the media, and sleepwalks through his job with his usual flat-affect gusto.

What is it with wingnuts calling themselves "Joe" when their name isn't Joe, anyway? We've got Wilson (can I call you Addy?), the not-actually-a-plumber-either ... you'd think with a name like Bruce, Tinshley's probably wishing he'd been clever enough to nickname himself "Joe," too.

(I'm guessing Anonycoward's real name is something along the lines of Marion or Leslie or Percy. More people probably know him by his registered sex-offender ID number, though.)

To be persuasive, you have to be remotely plausible.

Joe ("my publicist didn't like my real name") Wilson may have been genuinely confused about the enforcability of anti-illegal-immigrant provisions in proposed law, or more likely was just hoping to get his 15 minutes of fame, but to say that what Obama was described is "nothing like the actual bill" is just a stupid lie, good only for reinforcing the beliefs of people who get their facts from the funny papers.

Tinkley: if you're going to lie, try to CARE enough to make it a plausible lie, 'k?

The American public doesn't really mind being lied to, but can't stand having its intelligence insulted.

Tinsley certainly hasn't read the text of the bill, because that would be too hard. By which, of course, I mean that he hasn't the time after his 80-90 hours a week research or whatever in-no-way-obviously-made-up thing he said.

Wait—in panel one Tinsley actually criticized a Republican for being disrespectful to Obama? Does this mean that next he's going to criticize the 9/12ers for their disrespect to the President? And Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and the like? And...

Sorry, i'm a fan of alternate reality novels. Sometimes i get carried away.

Just when I thought we've reached the nadir of public discourse, Mallard manages to surprise me once again.

You know that drunk guy at every party who's always slurring his way into conversations, arguing about things everyone was done talking about ten minutes ago, while being so spectacularly wrong that it's just kinda sad, and who was invited to the party in the first place as a pity gesture by the host?

That's Bruce Tinshley.

Actually, "that drunk guy" was probably sufficient.

Tinsley is the drunk guy screaming racial slurs at the poor and making incomprehensible comments that indicate a sixth-grade level of literacy, and that is, just, in his comic. He must be a real jackass in reality.

This is the true Tinsley: A sociopathic wino who failed out of middle school, stopped reading and decided that anyone who was not rich, White, stupid and elitist, just like himself, was an evil Communist Nazi. He, delirious from a long drunken bender, stumbled into a graduation ceremony, saw a bunch of Blacks, Latinos, Jews, Asians, Europeans, Australians, Yankees, moderate Christians, non-Judeo-Christians,
poor guys and hippies who were smarter than himself, and decided that all of those groups were, inherently, evil.

Word Verification: Mulanabl, a game that Tinsley is programming. Players' characters use machines to go back in time, and destroy technology. Tinsley sees no irony in this premise.

I forgot to mention something: Tinsley has no friends, never reads and hates technology, thus, his, only, joy is to "anonymously" post ridiculous complaints on this forum.

i.h.c.a., you may not be shocked to learn that Mallard finished 183rd in his class.
