Those damned Classes

What's Mallard raving about today?

Charter Schools, Public Schools.

Rush, I don't know how to break it to you, but...

If your school district is so painfully lacking in even the most basic imaginative function that it chose the barely eponymous name "Charter School with the Tough Classes" you are doomed no matter which school you attend.

I'd blame Mallard Fillmore, if I were you. I doubt he pays taxes because he hates Public Education.

Wikipedia: "(Harold) Stassen gained a reputation as a liberal, particularly when, as president of the American Baptist Convention in 1963, he joined Martin Luther King in his march on Washington, D.C.. He was a prime representative of the liberal stream of American Republicanism. Much of his political thought came from his religious beliefs. An active American (or Northern) Baptist, he held important positions in his denomination and in local and national councils of churches. Many remembered him as much as a church figure as a political candidate."

Yeah, I can see why Batshit is so desperate to try to equate this man with failure. (...But he's not racist!!)

And why, exactly, does Li'l Rushie have to pass through a metal detector in the first place, Batshit? A: "Because there aren't enough armed reg'lar citizens shootin' 'them people' in the street, of course! Wooooo!! Oh shit, I've been hit!"

Tinsley hasn't got the first fucking clue what they teach in charter schools, what they teach in non-charter schools, or how the two might be different. He's just on a kneejerk, entirely fact-free crusade against public education in general. But, of course, I'm not saying anything that the readers of THIS blog don't already know.

AP classes are done in most public schools. I'm not sure what Rush's gripe is, maybe he should ask his father to skip a few grades since he so intelligent to be with peers. And join some extracurriculars. Or attend some university classes, though that's all liberal indoctrination camps to Rush.

At any rate, how about that personal responsibility we keep hearing about? Knee-jerk reactions to blame government and do nothing when there are free market alternatives as well as ways within the system to change one's fortunes aren't very personally responsible.

Metal detectors keep kids from exercising their 2nd Amendment Rights!

No wonder the kid's school is lousy: the kids can't defend themselves against the teachers!!!

Harold Stassen, president emeritus of an Ivy League university. Yes, he's the perfect choice to embody failures of academia.

The irreverence towards education is particularly apt here, as if the author had any intellectual curiosity he'd be exploring WHY students at charter schools might be excelling in comparison to those at traditional public schools, rather than just reiterating their alleged superiority for four days in a row.

It's like how the most challenging part of creating the Mallard Fillmore strip is finding the opener.

Tinsley believes kids are violent gun nuts because they use electrical devices.

And why does he need to "navigate" a metal detector. It's been my experience that you just walk through the fucking things.

For Bruce Tinsley, being able to walk in a straight line is frequently a challenge.

Walking through a plastic arch requires 'navigating"?
I think I figured out why you're wait listed, kid.
Wait, the alarm goes off as he walks through? Crazy disgruntled fucker is armed!! GREEN LIGHT, TAKE THE SHOT, TAKE THE SHOT, TAKE HIM DOWN!!!

Why, Tinshy! Surely, you are not trying to besmirch these young adults' Constitutional right to bear arms, are you? I might have to have my servant folk fetch my smelling salts.

My public high school actually had quite a many IB and AP classes. I suspect Mallard has no fucking clue what he's talking about. Well, 'suspect' is probably the wrong word, but what the fuck do I know, I went to public school.

It's like one of the Family Circus gags I wrote years ago, with Dolly and Jeffy looking at a school checkpoint with dogs, and Dolly explains, "It's called a middle detector 'cuz you walk through the middle!"
