What's Mallard raving about today?
Valentine's Day.
I have to confess that I am not sure why Mallard wears his unsenimentalsm like a badge of honor. Because, in truth, it seems more like just being an asshole that taking a faux-principled stand on an idiotic non-issue.
The winning detal in this particular panel is his use of the phrase "that stuff" to reference back to things which have not been previously mentioned. Unless Mallard is planning to purchase smarts, beautifulness, and smell, of course.
And yet, I am a big fan of this panel, if only because it marks a respite from the Walter Williams "plotline".

But look! An ultra-rare Chantel sighting! I wonder if anyone but us remembers her existence?
Mallard needs to get laid.
Who buys a Valentine's Day card with a picture of a dumpy, bald, white guy on it (who is not Cupid)?

For some reason, women aren't turned on by a grumpy duck.
Who's not loaded.
Tinsley's last girlfriend must have dumped him for forgetting V-Day.
However many years ago that was.
Not sure Walter Williams week is past yet. Check out the coloration on the woman; I think MF is still in his "I'm not a racist mode."
IIRC, there was a series a while back where Mallard went out on a date, but the woman turned out to be just another straw (wo)man for Mallard to make snarky comments to.
And anon, the woman in the strip is actually Chantel, one of Mallard's "supporting characters". She appears rarely, usually whenever Mallard needs a semi-sympathetic liberal character.
Didn't I say that?
What does IIRC mean?
Wait, never mind, I just figured it out. I'm a genius.
Totally off-topic, but you had a good letter in the Sunday Commercial Appeal, Kaitlyn.
Muddyriverlover, that could have been another Kaitlyn with liberal feminist views.
*scuttles away*
OT - MRL, I did notice that that other Kaitlyn was the only one to say same sex education is a bad idea for public schools.
She was also the only one to ignore studies, which will probably get her attacked by people supporting those studies, at least on the op-ed page.
Poor girl.
It's been Monday for almost 13 hours here in the middle of America.
I saw the cartoon at 2 am - Seattle PI's on commie time - and he's RHYMING!!!
He 'drew' Hillary Clinton!
He's dropped the Walter Williams thing!
Or maybe he just likes to rhyme.
English teachers must have hated him...
Oh, you probably have 'real life' things to attend to. Well, I don't! I have a heating pad on my lap and nothing better to do.
I'm also bored.
And who is muddyriverlover?
That would be I, a lover of muddy rivers--good thing I live in a city that's right next to one. A few days ago I noticed you mentioning our local paper, and was pleasantly surprised to find a fellow Memphian here among this group whose common bond is a realization of how lame M.F. is. Or, could it be that EVERYBODY here is a Memphian, and our paper is the only one in the world lame enough to run M.F.?

Oh yes, I see all the old Navy retirees fighting for it to be held here as the other papers drop it.
But no, I see it online with the Seattle paper, so it's not just us.
Hey, they published my letter sunday instead of his tripe.
I win!
