That damned Barney Frank

What's Mallard raving about today?

Barney Frank, Affordable Housing, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac.

Five years ago? Five years ago Barney Frank said they were sound?

Yeah, because that's exactly the same as John McCain saying "The fundamentals of our economy are strong" mere moments before the economy melted down completely.

Oh boy, another "don't look here for the punchline"--ie, "I couldn't be bothered to make even a half-assed effort at a joke." A classic Tinsley construction.

This is another lazy script; it's just a couple of Reichwing talking points attached to a drawing.

I won't bother pointing out that
* "Five Years Ago" Freddie wasn't heavily invested in securitized NINJA loans
* Most of the housing securities bubble came from non-bank lenders not ever subject to "affordable housing" programs.

I simply love the snide homophobia of the "Herb Moses" button? TEN YEARS AGO Frank had a lover who worked at Freddie.

That's what caused this mess, according to Mallard: dark-skinned people getting houses, and gays having long-term relationships.

If only Frank had been able to MARRY his lover, this might not have happened!

CORRECTED COMIC

Representative Barney Frank four years ago…

"If the Bush economic program is as successful as they say it is, why do they keep firing everybody who had anything to do with it? … an extraordinary confession of failure in the economic arena by this administration."*

Button: "THAT ONE, ‘08"

*Jan. 14, 2004, upon the resignations of Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill, White House economic advisor Lawrence Lindsey, and Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Harvey Pitt

Mallard: 35,457,590 Americans regret having voted for George W. Bush in 2004.**

** Bush won with 51%, his approval is now 22%, so 29% changed their minds. The rest is left as an exercise for the reader.

And this is why gay people should be allowed to marry.

Ah, a rehashing of the ole urinal scrawl: "Don't look here, the joke is in your hand!" It takes a special kind of cartoonist to be less original AND less funny than a bathroom wall.

People this caracture resembles more than Barney Frank: Columbo, Michael Savage, Eugene Levy, George Burns.

You could easily replace Barney Frank with John McCain saying "The fundamentals of the economy are strong," and it would still be as funny as a funeral.

Makes me wonder what kind of "I heart ..." button Mallard would wear. Or is there an "I hate ..." version? This being the internets, I'll go looking for it.

Why does Tinsley not Clinton? He did nothing while the banks purposefully lended money to the poor for the sole purpose of reposessing their houses when the values increased! He lowered the interest rate so that old men could no longer keep their retirement money in banks, had to play the stock market, overloaded it, put whatever they had left in housing after the collapse and thus, caused the burst housing bubble. Guess what the banks did when their proterties were devalued? Guys who lost their houses can, only, have Welfare for five, thanks to a law passed by Clinton! Yes, Clinton is, partially, responsible for this shit! Bruce Tinsley, however, is too drunk and stupid to research any of this! He should blame the "Democrat" responsible, rather than this strawman.

Anonymous,

We get it. You hate Clinton. Feel free to knock him.

Something to keep in mind however: incoherent rage and punctuation abuse are Mallard's superpowers.
