That damned...OH MY GOD, WHAT IS THAT?

What's Mallard raving about today?

Barack Obama, The Media.

We'll be hard pressed to find a better nominee for next year's Golden Ellipse for "Least Accurate Caricature" during the next 363 days of 2009. For God's sake. Barack Obama does not have two chins, penis-chin or otherwise.

Speaking of the Golden Ellipses...I am preparing as we speak. This would go a lot faster if I didn't have to read a year's worth of Mallard Fillmore, which has to be done in small doses.

I will note, however, that in Jan/Feb of last year, Mallard was bitterly complaining about Hillary Clinton and the media's love of Hillary Clinton. What a difference a year makes.

The slow distortion of the Obama caricature over the last year all makes sense now. His face is melting!

Good god. Just when I thought his Obama caricature couldn't get worse... a DOUBLE penis chin?! I shudder to think of a scenario in which this doesn't win that Golden Ellipse.

DaveyK, I salute your herculean effort of subjecting yourself to a year's worth of Mallards. Let me know if there's an address to which we can send a bottle of gin, or a mallet to hit one's self over the head.

i believe one of them is supposed to be his bottom lip. this does not make the drawing less shitty.

DaveyK, there's no link showing up on today's post (atleast in Chrome). However, having tracked him down online, I'm thinking there's any easy explanation for why the January 2 caricature is so crappy. Tinkley swore off the alcohol at midnight on December 31st. By noon on January 1, the delirium tremens were in full swing, and by the time his copy was due* for January 2, this was the best he could do what with the bouts of paranoia, confusion, disorientation, agitation, and uncontrollable tremors.

*I understand, of course, that most comics are submitted 2-weeks ahead, but I'm taking a bit of artistic license here for dramatic effect.

Just for grins, I compared the length of the caricature's nightmarish penis chin to the overall size of the face. The facial phallus comprises 1/3 of the overall length of the face. That's just obscene.

I'm sticking with my alien parasite theory. It would explain why the chin penis is doing all the talking.

Here AGAIN Tinkley lets ideology wreck the strip.

I disagree with today's attack on the media, but he could've made it plausibly funny if his hatred hadn't made him draw such a dumbass caricature.

The Obama "quote" is funny because Obama really does say "um" a lot, speaks grammatically correctly, and is mildly self-deprecating. The line is one he might actually say.

With an image focused on the "joke" instead of Tinkley's impotent anger, it might've worked:
for example here

Perhaps it's the impotency of DT's anger that makes him draw penises so much?

... Mallard Filmore would be a completely different strip and this blog probably wouldn't exist to mock it.

I was gone for a week, but I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

You all need to do what I do. Whenever the chin comes up, simply put your finger over it on the screen. Tinsley has conveniently provided a double chin for this purpose.

I would like to compliment BT on a very good cartoon today. To the point, drawn well...nice cartoon. Bruce I have followed you for many years before this blog was born, keep up the excellent work. I guess this is allowed on this "blog", freedom of speech etc.

Breaking news concerning Barack "the Magic Negro". Trial could examine Obama Clinton connections to Hsu. Check it out folks, I am sure you will enjoy. Do any of you actually know who Hsu is? :)

He can't jump tall buildings in a single bound, but he can pleasure Michelle using only his chin.

Anonymous has a point, if the caricature wasn't shitty and the subject was "irrational expection-holding liberals" instead of "media," then it's a pretty good joke.

However, this media that was in love with Obama sure spent a lot more time talking about William Ayers and Jeremiah Wright than it did Keating Five or John Hagee throughout the past election.

The "liberal media" myth is one of the conservative talking points that most steams me. By simply making an assertion enough times, something can become fact. It's disgusting.

And Norman Hsu...the noted Clinton donor, whose money Hillary forfeited? I'll be interested to see what "smoking gun" (pun intended) he has that's been held onto for 18 months with nary a word.

Interesting that none of the Republican commenters for the last several weeks (including the new "I'm not Bruce Tinsley, honestly, I'm a totally different person" Anonymous poster) have managed to mention President-Elect Obama without a derogatory racial epithet attached.

What does one make of that?

Other than the fact that Republicans actively seem to want to be reduced to a race-baiting minority party for the next generation.

I suspect that Tinsley originally drew a relatively normal chin (the "upper" one), then remembered "Oh yeah, I have to do that freakish elongated chin to make him look silly." Only he forgot to erase the first chin.

Actually, at the traditional Al Smith dinner in NYC during the last stages of the 2008 campaign, Obama told a number of one-liners pretty much like the ones in today's MF:

"Contrary to the rumors you have heard, I was not born in a manger.
I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father Jorel to save the Planet Earth."

55% of Democrats say Israel should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first rather than pounding the Palestinians...pathetic!

So...Israel should not take military action when the rockets fall on their people. They should have meetings with the Palestinians and Hamas - worthless. How many decades has this been tried and failed and this was not the fault of Israel. Check out the article.
A majority of Democrats, 55%,
say Israel should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first. Sounds about right to me that the Dems. would feel this way. Israel should level Gaza now. Once Obama is in office I am afraid Israel is in dire straights. Now they fight to survive against Palestine, Hamas and Iran among others. Soon to join the "among others" will be the Democratic party.

I was getting worried. Where were our beloved Anon trolls?

To Anon number one... racism and Hsu? That's all you've got? The one says bad thing about you as a person, the second ranks right up there with "Whitewater" as a scandal-that-never-was.

Anon number two, on the other hand, advocates the massacre of hundreds of thousands. Good plan, that.

Pretty much everyone in the US wants Israel to survive. The question is whether ever escalating military action achieves anything, and whether it can be morally justified.

Anon #2 here. Did you scan the linked article? If you did how can you utter the first sentence in the above quote from you.

Do you realize what the people of Israel are going through, how they are forced to live their lives?
And you question "whether ever escalating military action achieves anything, and whether it can be morally justified?"

What would you do if someone was shooting at your home and you called the police and they cannot help. Sit and wait until your home or your wife or family are wounded or killed or would you take action to stop the loon doing the shooting by whatever force necessary?

You have made my case. This is the way a liberal Democrat's mind works.
If someone kicks your ass Saturday and again on Sunday, will you let him do it again on Monday? God help us!

You people are too much, I can't stand it anymore.

Wow. Ol' Brucie's doing wayyyy too much posting on this blog these days. Maybe that explains why he didn't have time to remove Obama's second chin.

The U.S. is invading Iraq to promote democracy in the Middle East!

*Palestinians democratically elect Hamas, U.S. refuses to acknowledge it*

This isn't "evil burglar breaking into innocent man's home." A more suitable analogy is "Hatfields and McCoys." Israel and Hamas are both complicit. But if this analogy is on the table, it's more like:
- Man from 15th Street throws rock through your window on 14th Street and gives you a lump on the head
- 14th Streeter goes to 15th Street and shoots everyone in sight with machine gun

And finally, how is Israel's government completely absolved of ANY responsibility when the Israeli Army has blocked aid to refugees and destroyed refugee camps with bulldozers? This isn't a black-and-white issue.

I guess that's "how the Democratic liberal mind works," having the foresight to realize the world isn't a comic book.

Not quite sure what he thinks he's accomplishing by posting random non-sequiturs, but hey--if it keeps him off the streets, I guess it's all for the best.

...and seriously, people, mock Tinsley--kicking him around is part of what makes this blog so fun--but don't engage him and thus enable his ridiculous efforts to change the subject. That's pretty basic.

Kyle said...

Good point, I just realized that the Mallard Drunk Duck comic hadn't a thing to do with Hamas until now. And knowing Tinsley's timeliness, there won't be a comic on this until sometime in 2011.

A bit late, but better late than never: I caught 2 of the "7 Deadly Sins" on the History Channel tonight, and one was sloth.

Sloth was at first partly defined as an absence of hope, as despair.

I thought of Mallard Fillmore.

Michael Foley said...

Sloth... as in, not learning the basic skills of your own profession? e.g., a man paid to draw cartoons who draws two penis-chins?
