I recently filled out a grant application for the robotics club at my university. We're hoping to get more robotics equipment that students at my school can use to hone their engineering skills and that the club can use in workshops to get students at local high schools and middle schools interested in technology and engineering. None of us in the club are going to profit personally from this, but others could benefit. Technology is still a huge economic driver, so more students going into these industries is good for our entire economy. Besides that, if we can convince a few underprivileged kids to get involved in technology fields, we could change their lives. But Mallard says grants are EVIL EVIL EVIL, so I guess I'd better stop all that.
Good ol anti-education, anti-science, anti-non-rich Mallard. Life sure was better back when the only thing you needed to know was how to work the plow, and which plants would kill you if you ate them, wasn't it?
Yes, by all means, let's go with a higher education system that allows born-wealthy inbreds to skate to a bundle of completely unearned degrees, as "prats" struggle to study particle physics while working one or two jobs, in the hopes that they might one day help the progress of humanity--and live long enough to pay off the loan debt they incur. MURICA NUBBER WUN!!!1
Like I always say, Tinsley: "Give a conservative a cartoon, and you can make him laugh for a day. Teach him something vaguely resembling drawing, and he can sully newspaper pages for the rest of his life."
"Give money to a poor person, and it's SOCIALIST NANNY STATE! Give corn subsidies to Monsanto to flood the food market with HFCS and cause the obesity epidemic, or tax breaks to GE to build weapons to kill civilians, or give literal pallets of billions in cash to Halliburton in Iraq so they can do what they do best--steal--and it's FREE ENTERPRISE AT WORK!"
We all know society is so much better off if the job placements are directly related to the wealth your parents have.
Want to be a brain surgeon? Forget about being one if you're poor, despite being intelligent, meticulous, and calm. But if you're rich, you can take the classes and be as sloppy and drunk when doing it as you want! There's no way this could go wrong!
* We have to stop giving money to the poor so that they will die. * We have to stop funding technology, because it replaces work with fun. * Everyone must fend for himself, and no one should get any assistance. * Implication, because every Mallard Fillmore has an offensive subtext to go with the offensive text: Minorities, and the old all take handouts, so we have to kill them.
This father claims to be against welfare, yet he lets his 25 year old androgynous possible human stay with him, and teaches him all about Objectivism.
Word Verification: Laines, if the mildest of Tinsley's beliefs were to be implemented, there would be thousands of laines of humans being sent to horrible deaths every hour.
As if we needed more proof that the reichwing is against education!
That might have been o.k. in a lower-tech world, when God and Gumption, plus a few guns, could Guard the Garrison. But now-a-days, the winning countries will be the smartest.
There is only ONE advanced nation on the planet that cripples advanced education by saddling each student with horrendous debt, and it should be to the surprise of no-one that it is falling behind.

Seriously, fuck you Mallard.

...Who's elitist, Batshit?

Tinshley thinks everyone should be like him. HE never got any help of any kind with his drawing, writing, and reasoning skills!

Allow me to explain the messages in this cartoon:
* We have to stop giving money to the poor so that they will die.
* We have to stop funding technology, because it replaces work with fun.
* Everyone must fend for himself, and no one should get any assistance.
* Implication, because every Mallard Fillmore has an offensive subtext to go with the offensive text: Minorities, and the old all take handouts, so we have to kill them.
More fun from Bruce Tinsley!
This is unintentionally pretty damn funny, coming as it does from the badly drawn poster fowl for Wingnut Welfare.
