That damned hegemony

What's Mallard raving about today?

Santa Claus, Teachers.

Mallard Fillmore makes a living complaining bitterly about problems which exist only in his imagination. Kinda like Fox...

On another note, The Seattle comics site has rating stars for each day's Mallard Fillmore. Please take note and do whatever comes naturally.

Tinsley may be incapable of making cogent points, but he sure is good at regurgitating half-assed versions of half-remembered right-wing caricatures of cultural theory when it's time to attack the ebil libruls for, like, knowing shit and shit!

Your teacher's right, kid.

But Batshit hates professional educators (and professional law enforcement officers, and professional cartoonists, and...well, you get the picture), so it's childish delusional fantasy and blind faith for the win! Reality has a liberal bias! Jihad on--I mean, liberating preemptive police action against reality!!! Wahoooo!

Have any of these Christmas themed (or is it holiday? I don't know if Tinz has used the word Christmas) strips done anything but bitch about the teachers, food, letters from family, Obama?

Good grief, I think Tinz should just come out and admit that he observes Festivus and the centerpiece of the Festivus celebration which is the "Airing of Grievances".

I don't think Fillmore/Tinsley's even aware of Festivus, and even if he was, he'd call it another pretender to the 'great & wonderful' celebration that is "Christmas".

_ _ _ DAYS WITHOUT GODDAMN DUCK!

I'm on Happy Street. Who cares if the humor sucks and the POV is that everything in the world is hideous and awful and sub-par? NO DUCK... and so far, at least, he's not drawing Santa sprawled on an unidentifiable gob of furniture with his crotch splayed toward the TV set.

This is the Golden Age! Years from now, we'll all be saying, "Hey, remember those weeks when the duck wasn't even in the strip?"

"Hegemony" is an awefully big word for a child that age; the teacher should be congratulated for raising educational standards.

The people who most oppose Santa in school are certain radical Christians. Why does Mallard hate Christianity?

For a much smarter, funnier and fact-based observation on the role of culture in Christmas traditions around the world, see "Scandanavia and the World"(...don't miss the explanation in the text that follows)

Apropos of nothing, Thom Hartmann's Rebooting the American Dream is available, one chapter a week, on truthout. Highly recommended!

@Toots --

Every day is a holiday in Brucie's world. Unfortunately, that holiday is Festivus, and the only part that he can stay awake and sober enough to participate in is is the "Airing of Grievances" (well, at least his grieveances).

I mean, really -- is there anyone who think he is ever sober enough to participate in the "Feats of Strength"?

BTW, Davey -- Where can you rate the comics? I don't see any place on the page you link to (though it could be blocked by the firewall here at work), and I would really, REALLY like to rate Brucie's drivel. Do they allow for negative numbers?

Below and to the right of the comic are stars. Click on your preferred number of stars to vote. You can't give him less than one, alas.

His drawings disturb me. They make any message seem hateful and ignorant.

Kaitlyn, I'd like to test your theory, but I can't find any strips he's drawn where the subject and his handling weren't hateful and ignorant.
