What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama, Chia-Obama

Ohhhh, apparently Chia-Obama is some sort of metaphor for buyers remorse regarding President Obama. Wow, that was well-hidden from the reader.

By the way, for those of you interested in such things, Chia-Obama has now gotten more mentions in the last 2 weeks than President Bush since I started this blog.

I would say "lolwut?" but who are we kidding--this is Mallard Fillmore. There's no context in which that "lol" part could possibly ever be applicable.

Y'know, I think I'll buy Batshit a Christmas present next year. Anyone want to guess what I'll get him?

Go ahead an buy him a Christmas present now. As long as he gets it within three weeks of Christmas, it counts.

The colorist did a pretty nice job with this one, didn't he?

The use of muted oranges and blues evokes the post-holiday malaise (note the absence of red and green, the traditional Christmas colors), and the contrast between foreground and background calls to mind the early watercolors of Thomas Eakins.

This is what I choose to focus my attentions on.

I see Brucie's latest crusade is to give new meaning to the phrase "phoning it in".

I mean, good god -- the two lines of shoppers (which are only identifiable as such upon second or third squint) appear to be walking off into a fog, with nothing but a pair of captions or signs (it's completely unclear which) floating in midair to give a hint as to what they're doing. Was Brucie really so lazy that he couldn't even draw a few simple lines to represent a storefront or a returns counter? Evidently.

WV: bleria: A temporary condition that prevents the eyes from focusing properly. Most often experienced after waking up from a drunken bender.

The Chia Mallard Fillmore was a failure because nobody wanted to water its splayed-out crotch area once, let alone every day.

The Chia Obama could probably write a far better comic strip than Tinsley ever could. Yeah, it's an inanimate object, but so is ol' Bruce after a certain number of drinks.
