That damned change

What's Mallard raving about today?

Democrats, Taxes, Change.

Without stipulating to Mallard's idiotic and dated stereotype, after the last 7 years I'll be happy with just about anyone who swears to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution...and actually means it.

And here's Fat Cupid Mallard again. I knew it was to good to be true. Well at least he's not naked again this year. Ugh.

And let's all just ignore the shrinking middle class when we talk about taxes. Let's just ignore that the only ones who would lose large amounts of money on taxes would be the extremely rich, the ones who can actually afford to be taxed more. Let's just ignore that the Bush tax cuts have done nothing for the majority of Americans, and made the rich richer. Then maybe Mallard's rant will begin to make sense.

Funny, cost of living went up, tax cuts did not happen for a large portion of working America for whom the taxes actually define the difference between getting by and living comfortably.

All under the GOP.

So... next!

Pulitzer Prize-winning conservative cartoonist Michael Ramirez did a similar joke about a month ago.

Uh, Mallard...we're "bereft" now.

Tinny's fiscal philosophies never cease to amaze; he believes in the tax-cuts-generate-revenue balderdash of the appropriately-named Laffer Curve, yet he's forever at a loss to explain our monstrous deficit--save to accuse Republicans of "spending like Democrats"--ignoring the surplus under that damned tax-and-spend Dem Clinton.

He deliberately ignores the financial devastation of our train-wreck New Crusades (and how it continuously funnels our tax dollars into the pockets of Cheney's old buddies even today) while baying for public education to be slashed (so, I suppose, more children will grow up to be as smart and perceptive as he).

Does he really think that sort of nonsense will balance the books?

Or is he pleased that China's underwriting so much of our ever-growing Bush debt, effectively buying our country from under us?

Oh, silly me--I forgot! We're getting our asses stimulated soon...so everything's okay!

We sold our collective soul for a $300 tax cut that, as Exanonymous noted before, meant nothing; I guess $600 or more should cover the rest.

On another (non-political) board, a poster made the comment (regarding how great the US is): "What other country can give every one of its citizens $500?"

This is the conservative mentality. "I'm getting money!" No, you're walking up to the ATM with your credit card and you're getting a cash advance. Yep, you're going to have money -- but payback is a bitch.

I'm a strong believer in fiscal responsibility. Republicans are great at talking fiscal responsibility.

"The Dems tax and spend!" And that's worse that "Spend and don't tax" how? "'Cause I don't have to pay!"

We all pay. Either in higher taxes in the future or in a ever softening economy caused by a weakening dollar.

Ugh. I hate it when I get in an Us v. Them mode. Worse, it's caused by a half-naked duck. I'm going back to bed...

Do the Republicans think that they will be able to get people to forget the war, the economy, torture, the trashing of the Constitution, the attempt to dismantle Social Security, and Dick Cheney's Fourth Branch by complaining that Democrats tax too much?

Well, that's what I thought in 2004, too. Unfortunately, there's a substantial core of idiots who, when they hear the words "taxes" or "Jesus", run to the polls and pull the lever marked "R".

I thought nation was wanton at first.

And would have gone on thinking that had I not looked at it again to see how bad the rhyming was.

But yeah, tired, stupid, whatever.

I just love conservatives with government jobs who say this.

No one's mentioned Tinsley's grasp of anatomy yet?

Hey Tinny -- speaking as one of the currently bereft -- I got your fifth finger right here.

It's amazing how little Mallard would have to do to actually make the meter of this poem work. I don't understand why that's so tough. I mean, Republicans all go to fancy private school, right?
