That damned Disclaimer

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama.

Well, at least now we know why Mallard thinks he is on this imaginary Enemies List.

After all, he's been repeating the contents of his cartoon over and over and over for at least 3 years now.

Will someone wake me up when Tinsley starts beating another dead horse?

Watch for it: in approximately one week, Mallard will join the rest of the over-the-right-edge wing in screaming about the New York 9-11 trials.

The "home of the brave" crowd is terrified (yet hopeful) that America, which they usually claim has the best _________ in the world, will fail to defend its citizens (again) and fail to convict its enemies in a fair and open trial. They bay that the accused will turn the trials into a circus--one that they themselves will not fail to attend. They whine that evidence obtained through torture will be thrown out, ignoring the invalidity of such evidence in the first place.

That I've lived to see American citizens claim that the only way justice can be served is through a kangaroo-court mock trial held overseas...it's depressing. Even the ****ing Nazis got real trials.

The terrorists really did win, didn't they?

I find this somewhat amusing but in a rather pitiable way. It is essentially him screaming to the heavens that he is important and that the administration considers him enough of a threat/annoyance to be put on an enemies list. While conversely the peace movements investigated for possible terrorist connections and the like, nothing to see of course.

And Tog, I don't think they've won yet. There are still people who believe in following American ideals and showing such to enemies.

Wow.

It's not the arrogance in assuming that his watered down talking points are a threat to the government, but the sheer stupidity of actually THINKING that he is original and persuasive enough that his strip can influence his readers that gets me.

Mallard fans are Mallard fans because he repeats what they already think. He provides no new information and no new insight to that crowd.

Wait... Mallard has fans? C'mon Ex, what evidence do you have of that? I've never heard of a right-winger, moderate to nutty, who mentioned The Duck

*sigh* Yes, Tinsley, we know. You are terribly, terribly important, and horribly persecuted.

CB, some years ago there was a Letter to the Editor in Newsday from an MF fan who defended keeping Mallard in the comics (as opposed to an editorial page). He said -- as best I remember -- that "MF needs to stay in the comics, if for no other reason that it is the only thoughtfully and consistently funny comic there."

I tried to put myself in that person's head, to try to imagine a world where these things were reality. I ended up in a fetal position in the shower, crying.

Yes, CB, there IS a Mallard fan. He exists as surely as extremism and racism and Glenn Beck exist. Alas! How dreary would be the world without a Mallard fan. It would be as dreary as if there were no Fox News. There would be no incoherent rage then, no self-denying racist fears, no Duck & Cover to make tolerable this existence.

Not believe in Mallard Fillmore fans! You might as well not believe in the Gay Agenda! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the Facebook pages to catch a Mallard Fillmore fan, but even if they did not find one, what would that prove? Nobody sees a Mallard Fillmore fan, but that is no sign that there is no Mallard Fillmore fan. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see Death Panels? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

No Mallard Fillmore fan! Thank God! he lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, CB, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of the sheeple.

NickE, inspired channeling job today!

The operative word in the strip, of course, if "may." Reading this strip "may" get you noticed somewhere! It "may" also win you the Irish sweepstakes, just as it "may" cause the Earth to spin out of control, or "may" lead to choruses of bunnies singing that annoying credit report song.

Here's a disclaimer: Reading this strip "may" not be the stupidest thing you do today! So be careful crossing streets.

Warning: Reading or repeating the contents of a Mallentine may land you on the remedial English enrollment list.

"Proud", Mallard/Brucie? Really? you're proud of proclaiming to the world that you're a delusional whackjob? You're proud of admitting that you're completely divorced from reality? You're proud of the voices in your head that tell you you're so dangerously subversive that the president himself considers you a threat?

I suppose you're also proud of being arrested for DUI twice in four months.

Brave Senate schedules preliminary Obamacare vote for Saturday night.

It's a TEST vote, dickwad. It's purpose is to allow further discussion, not to pass anything.

Saturday night was scheduled so as not to waste M-F with procedural matters, because we're trying to get something fucking done that should have happened 50 years ago.

Dickwad.

Wow, it's Mary Sue Fillmore!

Sunday, expect the evil Barack HUSSEIN bin Hitler to strike at his most feared of all enemies, a shitty alcoholic hack cartoonist! Watch the Mighty Mallard battle The One's liberal Death Panels of CommuMusliManiacs in a secret internment camp hidden under a liberal college campus! THRILL as Our Hero beats the villain to death with a liter of Beam, while he quips "....And I suppose killing you is now considered racist!...."

After he's rescued the worshipful and impossibly gorgeous Laura Mars, wipe away your tears of joy as the happy couple is joined in NOT-FAGGOT marriage by Rush Limbaugh! Cheer as FOX News and Diebold elect him World Ducktator, and he retires in glory to his combination palace/distillery! Laugh as Tinny wakes up in a puddle of vomit!

WV: dister; only an L away from what Tinsey is as a cartoonist, a d-lister.

The Louisiana purchase: $300 Million for her vote! The taxpayers money used to buy a vote for a bill the majority of the people do not want.

For the last time, Anonyrast, you're not getting an earmark making it legal for you to enter daycare centers without pants on. The majority of Americans don't want you anywhere near their toddlers.

Uh-oh, looks like the Senate voted to allow debate on the health care bill! Heavens forfend, what a terrible fate for our democracy!

CW in LA said...

Bill the Splut - AWESOME post.

Otherwise, "a bill the majority of the people do not want"? Then why do polls consistently some something like 70% of Americans want health care reform with a public option? Or is that ACORN's fault, too?

If there are reservations about the legislation involved, it's because they'd prefer single payer. And no dicking with abortion rights, either.

Anonymous said...

NickE We all know it was a test vote, but if the bill was going to be stopped, today was when it would have occurred.

Because of the promised payoffs for the test votes, it will now cost Reid and Obama even more money, paid to those senators who now see what they can expect to receive for their final vote on the bill. Very intelligent comment, loser. So, this belongs to you.

...And yet, no matter what happens with the health care bill, Mallard Fillmore will still be a terrible comic strip.

Sounds like our pet troll is getting a little butthurt. Like most neocons, he isn't nearly as rough and tough as the press releases in his fantasies make him out to be.

Heh! The troll's trying to pretend that political deals are something new, something that only became a reality under the horrible, horrible Obama administration. Troll's really on a bridge to nowhere.

That's okay. As long as health care reform happens at long last, the whinings and pissings of one ignorant little troll don't matter one whit. He can pout about it for the rest of his life, for all I (don't) care.

exanonymous said...

Republicans had SIX years during rising health costs to bring reform, including their precious tort reform. And what they did pass no one really noticed and by Bush against his party.

So if it's all the same to anonymous, I'll side with the people who are actually trying to pass it within the first year of executive power in their party, instead of waiting 8 and then obstructing the other side.

Because a majority of Americans do want reform. They might differ on what that reform should be, but make no mistake: a majority of Americans are unhappy with the status quo.

Landrieu got money for her constituents.

Has that ever happened before?

Is it her JOB to get help for her constituents?

What's shocking to the Anonytrolls: she didn't demand the services of a hooker, like Vitter, or recruit one from her staff, like Ensign.

Demanding stuff for the people you represent - will that REALLY end Democracy?

The thing about Mallard is, he's as amoral as a spammer, but easier to avoid. Nonetheless, if there really were an Obama Enemies List, and he was on it, I'd sign up to call Tinsley at 4 am (or his equivalent, 10 am) and ask him if he has Prince Albert in the can.
