That damned obsession

What's Mallard raving about today?

President Obama, Fox.

President Obama, on Fox: "I think what our advisers have simply said is that we are going to take the media as it comes, and if media is operating, basically as a talk radio format, then, that's one thing, and if it is operating as a news outlet, then that's another, but it's not something I'm losing a lot of sleep over."

Mallard, on Obama, on Fox: "Blaaaaaaaaaargh!" Repeat until becoming a candidate for Most Interminable Series.

But, the President is the one who is unhinged. Right.

That's right, Mallard...Obama is the obsessive one. To prove that this is the case, why don't you shriek about it over and over and over and over and over for weeks on end? That will definitely make a statement.

Apparently Tinsely is now trying to kill irony.

You know, we don't think Bush obsessed with or lost sleep over the media outlets he actually froze out. (As opposed to FOX freezing out Obama first by refusing to air his speeches but still commenting on them.)

It's more like the media is defending their ignorant racist younger brother from outsiders than anything. But that doesn't mean they haven't taken FOX to task for idiocy when it attacks them (9/12 protests, anyone?). It certainly doesn't mean FOX is innocent.

Media isn't liberal as much as it's repeated, it is a business. If liberals had their way, media wold inform, not entertain or sensationalize. "Poptarts" would just be a bad-for-you breakfast, and discovering ways to prolong youth would not involve women in bikinis. "Ratings" would be dropped in favor of "accuracy" when it came to judging a news network.

Removed from the rest of the panel, just look at the Obama caricature. More than anything, it looks like a drawing you'd find in a kid's school notebook, a sketch of a teacher the kid really hates. The Shrek-like ears, the crossed eyes..

MAN, it must piss off Tinsley when he has to draw the kinked hair...

I must have missed it, two to three weeks ago, when Newsbusters and the Washington Times shamed the President by taking Fox's side. I guess that showed him where America's heart really is.

On a related note, what an impoverished fantasy world Tin Eye lives in. I'm guessing he doesn't even get to see pretty colors, just a forest of treacherous cross-eyed liberals and ever-growing symbolic chins.

If Tinshley really wants to kill irony, he can just invite it to ride along with him without a seatbelt when he's driving home at 2 am.

Tinsley has created an imaginary world in which a flustered Obama has completely lost his cool amid total defeat at the hands of FOX News. Even fifth graders writing Mary Sues about how popular they are think this is sad.

"OMG HUNH!!! If I draw Obama like he's crazy and fill some word balloons with crazy talk, people will think it's funny and thoughtful!"

Now THAT is 80-to-90 hours of research ... if by "hours" you mean "shotglasses"

Wow -- 7 almost-consecutive days of this drivel.

Methinks the alkie doth protest too much.

Tinsley, I know that you become paranoid when you drink too much, too little or enough alcohol; but do not transfer your crippling psychological problems unto others. This is the same thing that happens when you call a charitable friendly man a sociopath.

I think s"rewinn" confused shotglasses with kegs, especially today.

Word Verification: Buttolo, the perfect description of Tinsley and his comic.

What i want to know is why the White House—the actual building!—is so obsessed with FOX News.

A feeble attempt to ape Doonesbury, perhaps?

I know President Obama likes Star Wars, but the Queen Amidala lip is taking it a little too far.

Michael, be careful or next time we’ll see him wearing a headdress.

I just saw todays out of morbid curiosity...the asterisk tells me nothing and in fact seems like a made up statistic.

Incidentally, today is Veteran's Day.

Kip W said...

Tin Eye is celebrating Veteran's Day in the most sincere, respectful way he knows, by trashing the President with made-up crap.

ps: I've got your eight percent right here. Footnote that, bottom feeder.

From this obsession there is truly No Exit.
What does a cartoonist have to do to get canceled these days? Make it stop!

"....What does a cartoonist have to do to get canceled these days?..."

One of the downsides of the internet is that the cost of hosting a comic is so low, any garbage gets "printed".

One of the upsides: garbage gets ignored. Why read "Mallard Fillmore" when you can read the far more intelligent xkcd, candorville, sinfest and even old reliables like Doonesbury?

The grumpy old drunk at the end of the bar may never go away, but in a few years he'll be relying on Medicaid and Social Security.

Be ready to laugh.
