That damned Isolation

What's Mallard raving about today?

Himself.

Mallard's morality play has now veered from complaining about people victimizing him to complaining about daytime TV.

Anyone surprised?

Didn't think so.

It's nice to know that as soon as a conservative is fired, they plop their butts in front of television and watch soaps and talk-shows.

Liberals know that unemployment checks can only be stretched so far and that one must diligently search for jobs while on unemployment, which involves research, phone calls, application forms, resume writing, and skill training. And they do it from the very first day, because the longer one is unemployed, the less likely one is to get hired.

And heaven forbid single and childless Mallard take a job at McD's like all his conservative friends feel unemployed families should.

No wonder he thinks the world is full of bums and welfare queens. He's the center of the universe, and that's what's in the mirror every day.

Correct me if I've missed some news, but Tinsley hasn't actually been fired, right? I mean, the continued emergence of this drivel suggests to me he hasn't, as does a Google search, but then I'm living overseas so we don't get all the hot cartoonist news. What I'm saying is, this is less 'solidarity with the average American', more 'Ha ha, if I lost my job it'd be terrible, so thank God I still get a decent salary for churning this out, as well as speaking engagements around the country which pay very well'. I could find hundreds of strips where he accuses 'the liberal elite' of looking down on and not caring about the common man, and yet here he is, in a secure, well-paid job, doing some kind of working class equivalent of a minstrel act doing the 'daytime TV' thing. Fuck you, Tinsley.

For three seconds, it almost seemed like Mallard was capable of feeling empathy. But we regular readers knew better, didn't we?

WV: farie. What Tinsley thinks your typical liberal male is.

Tinshley's being selfish. He should tell Mallard his secret for researching daytime TV for 40 hours a week: sweet, sweet Everclear.

Word verification: pedroile. Crap, Anonyrast's even starting to surface in the damn pseudo-Captcha around here.

I bet he's watching Sarah Palin's Alaska.

I might be wantin' a bagel with my coffee.

Mallard is watching daytime TV shows about teens? Seems like business as usual to me.

Maybe this will cause Mallard to change his worldview about those unfortunate people who have to rely on government assistance at some point in their lives.

Hahahahahah, just kidding, I know that's never going to happen.

He'll get 99 weeks of unemployment, so this story arc should end sometime in early October 2012, followed by strips showing the duck scrounging for deposit cans and turning tricks for bestiality fans.

WV: subbwni; a substandard whine, e.g., every Mallard ever.

Gotta hand it to that duck for having a get-up-and-go attitude, putting on a suit jacket and tie before he splays himself in front of the idiot box all day. That's what this country needs.

Strange thing, Ducky: Lots of people in this country have been unemployed for a lot longer than a week -- and are thousands of dollars in debt, to boot -- yet you seem to be the only one of them who's skipped the looking-for-a-new-job stage and gone straight to sprawling on his fat ass while bitching about how there's nothing good on tv.
