That damned rejoinder

What's Mallard raving about today?

Moderate Republicans.

I don't want to get in the way of the Great Republican Purity Purge, but "Moderate Republican" is not a rejoinder, trite or otherwise.

Now, please carry on purging the non Glenn Beck supporters from your ranks.

Put down the Heineken can and pull over, Mallard.

No, no, let him go. Let him chase away moderate Republicans and genuine conservatives (that is, non-neo-con conservatives).

I always used to say that Ann Coulter would gladly execute anyone to her left...and when there was no one there anymore, she'd start scooting further over to the right. Tinsley doesn't have the balls Coulter does, but I'm more than happy to see him cheering on that sort of thinking. It's like sawing the legs off your own chair...or body.

The purge of Dixie Democrats was done to rid the party of its vocal bigots; this, on the other hand, is being done for the sort of childish, my-way-or-the-highway foolishness so typical of the nearsighted Neocon Culture Warrior.

This is bad enough that I had to look up the meaning of the word "rejoinder" just to verify that indeed, I am still confused.

"Moderate republican" might be trite because it is used quite often, but it's valid term in recognition of a sliding scale and not absolute pass/fail for politics.

But I'm not sure where either phrase is commonly used as a rejoinder. I thought those were more along the lines of "your mom". Or if we're going to be politically specific, "You're just jealous of Limbaugh's success." I think Mallard just liked big words in his balloons.

'Moderate Republican' isn't a rejoinder, it's an oxymoron.

I think I've said it before...

If you can state your argument in a reasonable way that does not devolve into "Islamo-socialist-racist" or any other bizarro world view of Obama, I will listen to you. Maybe you'll even sway my opinion. Not likely, but more likely than screaming like a douchebag about how liberals are the real racists and what have you.

What that has to do with this strip: Moderate Republicans have sense, while Neocons do not. Common sense has a liberal bias, so Neocons don't need them hanging around!

Looks like Tinshley got drunk and spilled his thesaurus again. Too bad he uses the English language like he drives.

Huh? Or should I say, WTF?

Seriously, does this strip have any basis in any kind of reality? It's not factual, it's not funny, it's not cute, it's not clever, it's not even in the same area code as anything resembling "amusing".

I have a feeling Tinkley did some extra "research" before he wrote this one.

When you admit that you think "moderates" are an abysmal group of people, you are pretty much automatically admitting that you yourself belong to the fringe, I.E., the crazies.

For example, while moderates may not actively seek out the expansion of gay rights, they don't think "The Gays" are somehow out to destroy our way of life out of an extremist communist, socialist, fascist, Marxist, Atheistic agenda.

If people who think Bob Barr is too moderate because he demands Article 3 trials for terrorists are the future of the Republican Party, the Libertarians will come in second in 2012.

Yesterday Teabaggers complaining that blogspot censors their content did a telecon to urge traffic to their new website ("73wire"); little did they know that many of the call participants were comedians mining them for new material who really cut loose in about the last 10 minutes more info here

I responded WTF in the poll, ’cause i don’t get it.

And this isn’t your run-of-the-mill not getting Tinsley moment, this is a reaction to jaw-dropping opacity. Can somebody let me in on the connection between speech-bubbles two and three? Is he saying that “moderate Republican” is a trite rejoinder? Or is he slamming moderate Republicans in a way that has nothing at all to do with the setup?

You know, more of these sorts of cartoons may lead me to follow Tinsley’s lead in self-medication.

I think Tinsley was trying to say that "The term 'moderate Republican' and six cents gets you the pickle off a Big Mac", or whatever it was he wrote, was the trite rejoinder.

That phrase is neither trite nor a rejoinder, but that's beside the point.

Tinsley hates "moderate" Republicans because they are not sufficiently cruel:

Moderate Republicans hate social services.
Tinsley's Republicans hate the very existence of poor guys, and want to go Galt.

Moderate Republicans support tortures such as waterboarding, sleep deprivation and rape.
Tinsley's Republicans support tortures such as the rack, the iron maiden, the devil's chair, the wheel, drawing and quartering, cutting in half (yes, this was an actual form of torture) and whipping.

Moderate Republicans support Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.
Tinsley's Republicans support Henry Kissinger, Joseph McCarthy and J. Edgar Hoover.

Moderate Reoublicans hate empathy.
Tinsley's Republicans hate anything less than sociopathy.

Moderate Republicans hate all foreigners.
Tinsley's Republicans want to kill all foreigners.

Meanwhile, in reality today (Nov 18), Fox "News" got caught faking video footage AGAIN.

This time, they were saying they were showing video of huge crowds waiting for Palin's book when it was actually from her 2008

Moderate Republicans tended not to be such blatant liars.

Iron Dragon said...

The disturbing part in this is that it almost seems like the party is trying to kill itself. I read Newsweek today and it mentioned how the party is vilifying anyone who stands with the dems on issues. I find this fascinating, apparently public service and aid for your district/state comes in far behind ideological lockstep.

Regarding the Palin video:

I'm holding off on calling that a mistake. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that her followers kept their election gear and dug it out for a book rally, especially considering the careful selection of the areas she went to.

It's still a lose-lose situation though. Either FOX lied with footage, or the Palin fans are deep in denial.

I blame Jon Stewart.

See??

SEE????!!

See what happens when Mallard tries to tell a joke?

Next time, you just leave well enough alone, Mr. Stewart, okay? You just leave well enough alone!

I take it back, I'm apparently wrong.

Apparently the Palin video is from the campaign.

FOX promises serious actions.

If you believe that.
