That damned Respect

What's Mallard raving about today?

Christianity, Islam, The Media.

Poor Christians...someday maybe one of them will be elected President.

The media shows respect for radical Islam?

How so?

Ha ha, of course it doesn't. Tinsley just enjoys equating terrorists with Islam, period. He'd love for you to think of "radical Islam" as a redundancy.

So what else is Tinsley trying to say? That when clergy abuse children or Ms. Prejean mails out videos of herself jilling off, we should pretend it didn't happen out of respect for Christianity? NARF!

1984 was an interesting book.

But some days I wish I didn't read it. It's rather depressing to see something like this blatant attempt to make Islam synonymous with terrorist. (Though, in some counter-irony, it would mean that there are no liberal terrorists since they do not fulfill the neocon requirements)

And it's an insult to REAL reporters, those who are actually in countries where radical Islam has taken hold and risk their lives to report the stories of atrocities committed. Which is a stark contrast to the regular American citizen who practices Islam and does in fact deserve respect for their religion because they have committed no more atrocities than their next door Christian neighbor.

Well, look, if we assume when Tinsley says "respect" in regards to radical Muslims he means "aren't calling for their immediate execution by hordes of angry citizens", and by "radical Muslims" he means "all Muslims", AND by "Christians" he means "fundy Bible-thumpers", AND what he means by "respect" in regards to them is "immediately agree with their opinions"...

Well, we're still left with a crap argument, but I think we're getting close to Tinsley's thought processes. Just add rum, and you're there.

When did the media demand we replace "In God We Trust" on our coinage with "Allahu Akbar!" ?

So he means he wants us to treat everything they say as valid and equate it to their opposition no matter what the level of reason on each (IE how the media allows Intelligent design to be seen as anything other than a steaming pile of bullcrap)? Or is it that Tinsely is claiming that the poor christians are being persecuted because they aren't being allowed to run roughshod over our civil liberties and the first amendment.

Unless we overreact to everything done by a Muslim to the extent of blaming all of them for whatever any of them does, and give a free pass to any crime by a Christian, then the terrorists have won, and the President might as well hold hands with, and make kissyface with, the heads of the country where most of the 9/11 murderers came from.

This "respect" with which the mainstream media treat "radical Islam" and the disrespect Christianity receives from them apparently exist in the same world as Obama's "enemies list" -- i.e., the world at the bottom of Brucie's latest bottle of "research".

Yes -- those poor Christians truly are the Rodney Dangerfields of the world, aren't they?

Tinsley's right! Every Sunday when I turn on the TV, it's all Muslim-ceremony this and praise-be-to-Allah that! Why can't we ever find any good Christian programming on TV?

Remember a few months ago when some nut shot up a church, and since he wasn't Muslim, the "Liberal Media" immediately theorized that he was a liberal atheist? I immediately thought "Bullshit, unless he's the first atheist terrorist ever. And if he was, why would he be shooting up a Unitarian church?" And sure enough, when it was discovered that he was a radical Christian fundie, pow, it suddenly became a non-story. The media only jumps on Christians when they're the Reverend Wright.

After 2000 or so years of dominating Western culture we're a persecuted minority because we can't act like we're entitled to run the world anymore!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! IT ISN"T FAIR IT ISN"T FAIR!!! (then he barfs and passes out on the rug in a drunken stupor)

OK, Mallard, in the interest of fairness, the media should treat all fundamentalists the same. You're welcome.
