Golden Ellipses: Achievement in Oversimplification or Willful Ignorance

And the winner is...

Hundreds of Scientists!

The Nominees for Achievement in Oversimplification or Willful Ignorance are...
  • Hundreds of Scientists! - Over 400 Scientists? And yet the Media choose to believe the overwhelmingly larger number of scientists who believe the opposite? It's a scandal!
  • B. Hussein Obama - Right. Because the use of President Obama's middle name is what people object to. It has nothing to do with the context and manner in which it is invoked.
  • The EPA Said What? - Mallard, who routinely objects to Federal employees as lazy slobs, is suddenly aghast that the EPA has warnings about the disposal of Compact Fluorescent bulbs.
  • Underperforming - Please ignore the fact that the article cited discusses how the proponents of the idea think it's totally inconsequential. Because Mallard says it's a threat!
  • We're All Rich! - Please, do not actually look at President Obama's tax plan, because that would totally ruin this awesome joke!

I'll possibly vote for the "we Are Rich". Looking at it just makes me want to either punch Obama or Tinsley.

Arrrrghhhh, these all SUCK SO BAD!

Will we have an award for worst drawing? That "stack of flapjacks" fluorescent bulb takes the cake.

Global warming. Because I am "qualified" to sign the silly petition used to support this idea.

A fact willfully ignored.

I like the light bulb in the Oversimplification category because it ignores the mercury released into the environment by the extra coal burned to support incandescent bulbs.

I give the light bulb extra points for its turban-clad unsubtle evocation of the Obama's Muslimitude.

This is the hardest choice by far. I can think of a dozen others that could have made the list. You could make the argument that the title of the strip could be changed to "Oversimplification or Willful Ignorance".

I could have figured out who "Mister Education Professional" was from the mortarboard he's wearing.

I'm glad the CFL eventually got around to telling us what it was, though, because otherwise I might have assumed that vanilla soft-serve cones contain dangerous amounts of mercury.

Why are Obama's speech balloons so much larger than the text that he has to prop them up with his hands?

I have to thank rewinn for explaining the EPA strip to me. The Obama (non) connecton is still such a WTF that I have to go with that one.

WV: vulathi I dunno. It just sounds nasty.
