Those damned Rich

What's Mallard raving about today?

Liberals, The Rich.

Conservatives, The Early Years: The Rich imploded our entire society, let's sacrifice everyone but the Rich until things right themselves. Wait, what do you mean I'm not one of the Rich? Well, I still insist this is the right course of action, even though it is not in my best interest.

Batshit continues to be Loyal Party Member, doing his part to keep the sheeple lined up to feed the rich...by accusing anyone who asks why the top two percent can't pay their fair share, of wanting to EAT the rich.

As Daddy's Little Inheritors and their pet Randists throughout the media try to make the moron's philosophy of "going Galt" a reality (consequences be damned), Batshit tells himself it's the right thing to do because the dirty hippie economists say otherwise, and they've NEVER been right about anything!

In Tinsleytown, it's liberals who outsource jobs, the middle class that wrecked the economy, and unions that oppress the worker. If Orwell had meant his works to be instruction manuals instead of warnings, he would be SO proud of Batshit right now.

When, oh when, will it finally be the time for the rich in this country to enjoy some common decency?

Your modern republican party: deeply concerned for the well being of millionaires.

Yes, it's too bad the rich didn't get their fucking tax breaks renewed, at the expense of the national deficit, isn't it? Because having them pay Reagan-era levels of tax on their highest marginal rates would be TOTALLY LIKE CANNIBALISM.

We need to find some way to liquify, then ferment and distill the rich. Then Tinshley would change his tune in a second.

What constitutes a "rich caveman"? One who gathered the most berries? One who sold mastodon futures, or sub-prime bearskin loans?

Taxing billionaires ruins the economy! But taxes are at the lowest they've been in American history. That's why we have 0% unemployment and a booming economy! Let's try trickle-down economics for another 30 years, as it's bound to start working soon!

I just noticed that homo Mallardus cavemen all wear leopard skins. This is no doubt based on the careful research shown in the Creationist documentaries about Fred Flintstone.

Ask not what the rich might do for anybody else. Ask what everybody else can do for the rich.

Someone get this memo to Tinsley stat!

NO GROUP HAS BENEFITTED MORE FROM THE POLICIES OF THE USA THE LAST 30YEARS THAN RICH PEOPLE!

Oh who am I kidding? Unless this message was broadcast during daytime television between court shows or printed on the label of a bottle of corn liquor he'd never get it.

Actually, there's plenty of evidence that economic inequality leads to poor health and other nasty things. See, for example, The Spirit Level.

Disclaimer: studies like these are done by smart people, who work hard at understanding things with their brains. Therefore they are the enemy of today's conservatives.

Let's try this again:

--86.0% of all federal income taxes are paid by the top 25% of income earners. (up from 84% in 2000).

--The TOP 50% pay 97% of all income taxes.

--The TOP 1% pay 39%, up 2% from 2000 when President Bush took office.

Wall Street Journal: "In 1980, when the top income tax rate was 70%, the richest paid only 19% of all income taxes; now, with a top rate of 35%, they pay more than double that share.

Apparently that is not enough for the liberals. The evil rich should be required to pay more because some poor schmuck cannot have the material goods that the rich have and that is just not fair.

Hey Anonydipshit, I'll just leave this here:
"Income inequality in the United States is at an all-time high, surpassing even levels seen during the Great Depression, according to a recently updated paper by University of California, Berkeley Professor Emmanuel Saez. The paper, which covers data through 2007, points to a staggering, unprecedented disparity in American incomes. On his blog, Nobel prize-winning economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman called the numbers "truly amazing."

Though income inequality has been growing for some time, the paper paints a stark, disturbing portrait of wealth distribution in America. Saez calculates that in 2007 the top .01 percent of American earners took home 6 percent of total U.S. wages, a figure that has nearly doubled since 2000.

As of 2007, the top decile of American earners, Saez writes, pulled in 49.7 percent of total wages, a level that's "higher than any other year since 1917 and even surpasses 1928, the peak of stock market bubble in the 'roaring" 1920s.'"

In other words Anonydipshit, THE RICH ARE PAYING SLIGHTLY MORE IN TAXES BECAUSE THEY ARE FUCKING RAKING IN MONEY FASTER THAN IT CAN BE PRINTED WHILE THE REST OF US TOIL IN SHIT JOBS IF WE'RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE A SHIT JOB.

Dear Anonymous Halfwit:

They pay most of the taxes because they hold most of the wealth, and yet they STILL actively pursue every means of tax evasion--legal and illegal--that they can imagine.

If we were talking about "Democrats" instead of "rich people," you'd be screaming treason and execution.

But you're just doing what you think is your duty: licking the wealthy man's ass. You figure, if you're a good dog, a really good dog, they'll let you have scraps. And maybe one day you'll win the big lotto! And they'll let you stand on your hind legs and join the club! (That part always makes me laugh.)

Class dismissed.

Anonymous Coward really should get a logon so that his servile attentions to his masters gives him proper credit. Otherwise his efforts are a complete waste of time which, come to think of it, is sort of the whole point of Mallard Fillmore isn't it?>

As others noted, to pick one of Anonymous Coward's factoids, the rich paid 2% more in taxes while raking in 10% more in income, so on the whole they're doing better while the rest of us are doing worse.

And notice how carefully Anonymous Coward says "income tax"; if you factor in other taxes, the inequity is even worse.

Even stipulating to Anonymouse's figures, they are at best incomplete.

For example, note that there is no reference whatsoever to the % of income earned by each of these groups. If the claim is that the top 1% of income earners pay 39% of all taxes, the correct response is "So what?" until and unless we know what percentage of INCOME they earned. Obviously -- presumably even to the intellectually-challenged such as Anonymouse -- if they EARN any percentage higher than 39% of all income, they are NOT paying their fair share.

The other obvious, major point ignored intentionally by lackeys for the rich like Anonymouse is that "class" (as in upper, middle, and lower) is primarily based on WEALTH, not income. Does Anonymouse actually believe that any very wealthy person, from George Soros to the Koch brothers, has any significant dependence on their INCOME? I am pretty sure that those top 1% either don't get or surely don't need a paycheck.

One final major point (it would take way too long to go through all of the nonsense presented here) is that Anonymouse and his ilk talk only about INCOME TAX. They neglect to include burdensome (to those of lower income) taxes like Social Security and Medicase that come out of every paycheck, whether or not income taxes are paid.

But why let facts stand in the way of a good whine about how the rich are mistreated in this country.*

*Actually the motto of Mallard Fillmore.
