That damned Addiction

What's Mallard raving about today?

Rahm Emmanuel

Wow, given that Rahm used the word once (to insult Liberal groups, by the way), Mallard will really need to go to town on Rush Limbaugh for using it four times in one show.

Bruce Tinsley has hashed over the same "joke" three days in a row and has the gall to talk about addiction.

What's wrong, Truth-To-Power? Have you no serious issues about which to educate the people?

I can't wait to see how you handle Joe Stack, Teabagger Terrorist. Will you glorify him, as your fellow scumbag Jon Alvarez did, or will you pretend he was never one of you? Will you do a series of strips calling for cavity searches of "people who look like Joe Stack?"

...Or will you and your smirking duck pretend it didn't happen, as is so typically cowardly of you?

This is either a cry for help from Tin, or else he just wants to put some of his hard-won knowledge of twelve-step groups to some use. Wait until he decides to do the same with his dearly bought inside look at a holding cell.

Ralph Nader is on the White House staff?

Why do so many caricatures in this comic strip end up with heads shaped like carrots?

Does Bruce Tinsley want to marry a carrot?

Well, it took a couple of days, but Tinshley's subconscious is starting to break through the drunken haze: the Penis-Chin is being deployed!

I didn't know Rahm Emanuel was a vampire.

Hey, Mallard's a liberal lover. He's railing against the injustice done to a small group of liberals that Emmanuel actually insulted.

Either that, or if someone says the... "r-word", he automatically thinks of the mentally handicapped and the insult. Good to know he's PC enough to acknowledge the problem with that. Anything to retard... sorry, to Special Olympic the spread of hate is good! Or flu.

Good god. It looks like Dr. Gregory House was infused with DNA from a parsnip.

The PC police have gone mad!! Unless a Democrat says something that can be used for political ammunition, that is. If it were a Republican, we'd see a cartoon like this or this, or this.

This is even more contrived than usual, because if you take political gain out of the calculus, it's not offensive at all. I have a family member who is retarded, and I still use the colloquial "retarded". Normal people don't equate using the word with making fun of people with cognitive issues. Man up and have some intellectual honesty, Bruce.

Also, you might want to stay away from the topic of addictions. At least his 12-step program isn't court ordered.

WTF? Using a word figuratively once is having an "R-word" addiction, but using the word repeatedly literally (like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh) is not? (Levi reports that Palin called her son "my little retard" in her own home)

Dr. Zaues can say whatever he wants, bright eyes.

Are we merely lucky that Brewski Tinkley is such a lousy cartoonist that he fills the panel with words so unneeded that they kill the punchline (half-the-words in today's "comic" are unnecessary) ...

... or is being too stupid to write comedy necessary to being a reichwing hack?

P.S. "Trig" may be short for "Trigger" or a family name, or it may be the faint memory of having seen his condition, disagnosed prenatally, being called "Tri-G" short for "Trisomy G" (trisomy = enetic abnormality in which there are three copies, instead of the normal two, of a particular chromosome; 21 in the case of Down's syndrome; why trisomy g is an alternative name I don't know; ask a real scientist.)

Or it may be all the above and/or a complete coincedence. Surely Palin would not call her own child after his most unfortunate syndrome; it suffices to haul him around as a prop and use him as an occasion of fake rage.

I quit trying to figure her out a long, long time ago, so I wouldn't put anything past her. Maybe she's just too stupid to know how horrible it would be to be named after your disorder.
