Those damned offers

Hugo Chavez, the Ivy League, MSNBC.

Despite what Mallard says, there is no proof that Hugo Chavez's views represents mainstream Progressives in the United States.

Contrast that with Pat Robertson, who speaks for millions of Right Wing zealots and who has had direct access to the President of the United States, who said this about Haiti:
They were under the heel of the French, you know Napoleon the third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said 'we will serve you if you will get us free from the prince.'...so the devil said, 'ok it's a deal.' And they kicked the French out. But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after another.
How long before Mallard talks about that statement?

Well, don't hold your breath.

Simple tactics for simple minds, Tinsley. (I'm not just talking about your fans.) Bad guy says something outrageous? ...Equate it with liberals! JOB DONE!

Maybe it's just because I myself am an Ivy alumnus, but I bristle at the mention of "six Ivy League colleges". Seven of the eight Ivy institutions are properly called universities, not colleges.*

(* though the universities are composed of smaller units called "colleges", in the context of hiring a new professor it should be assumed that such an action would involve decisionmaking at the university level.)

Brown is the closest the artist has come to any Ivy school. And I don't mean the one in Providence, RI.

Wait, is Tinshley coming to the defense of the U.S. military? Whose commander in chief is Barack Obama? But isn't everything Obama does wrong, by definition? Which means Chavez must be right, but Chavez must be wrong because he's brown? I mean, hates America? But if Chavez is wrong, then Obama is ri -- *headsplode*.

I like to picture Tinshley considering this kind of paradox and his brain unspooling like the tape drives of a TV-show computer, circa 1973. But more likely, he just drank his research until he forgot about it completely.

Pretty much. *sigh* "Instead of shorting our, humans have the choice of ignoring the paradox within their orders. Of going to 'sleep.'" (The Book of the SubGenius Chapter 10)

Tinsley hates colleges because he dropped out of the sixth grade.

Haiti was robbed of all its money by French, and American colonists, and left with massive debts.

Who, besides the thoroughly retarded, and insane Bruce Tinsley, could blame Hugo Chaves? We have invaded Iraq, Afghanistan and might go to Iran. Our president promised to end the war, then, just, started another one. Hugo Chaves has tried to improve social standards in his country, whereas conservatives have spent the last decade destroying our rights, and freedoms.

Chavez nationalized the oil companies in his country and said bad things about Bush. This makes him evil incarnate and obviously aligned with MSBNC and those evil instituions of higher learning.

It's simple. All educators are bad, except those working at schools named for a 20th century evangelist. All education (apart from these institutions) is bad, because it makes people question what they are told. The enemy is knowledge. The only thing as bad, in Tin's world, is apparently craftsmanship.

I missed the memo that MSNBC, progressives, and Ivy League Schools like Chavez.

Seriously, just because someone doesn't draw a Hitler mustache and call someone a evil doesn't mean they like them. And if someone takes time to research motivations and ideologies and presents these things as something other than "I want to be just like Stalin and kill people" doesn't mean they like them.

But maybe that's why so many people think Obama is this extremist nazisocialmarxistcommie. They haven't studied history.

I'm a liberal secular progressive college student and I think Chavez is a douche.

Your move, Tinsley.

Pat Robertson is an ass, but try not to commit the same sin you are criticizing. Broad-brushed attacks are just as idiotic coming from the left as from the right. Robertson certainly doesn't speak for most conservatives, although for simplification purposes it apparently makes you feel good to think so.

Name a prominent one who criticized his insane remarks. To get you started, here's one who didn't: Tinsley.

Rush Limbaugh says that US AID to Haiti is a plot by the negros to steal out precious bodily fluids. I'm sure that's tomorrow's strip.

Meanwhile, the youth of America go: "Hugo Chavez? Who cares? We have people dying in Afghanistan and people without health care in the USA - what does it matter what Hugo says?"

Seriously, folks, aren't we support to invade Iran and Libya and a couple other countries before we get to Venezuela? I think Tinshley is ahead of schedule.

Of course, had President Cheney and his li'l hand puppet George NOT used an attack from Afghanistan to justify the invasion and occupation of Iraq, Chavez wouldn't have any basis for that comment, would he?

But don't worry, Bruce "Speaks Truth To Power" Tinsley was against the invasion and occupation...in secret. Now that BushCo is out of office, he has bravely declared his staunch opposition. Give that "man" a medal!
