That damned Stupidity

What's Mallard raving about today?

Polling, President Obama.

Apparently, Mallard is exactly as stupid as I thought.

So he now wants to equate voting for Obama to drug use...wow. I literally don't know what else to say to that.

his misuse of statistics has gone from ignorant to malicious.

Woooooo....

Please, will someone explain to Bruce what he's doing wrong here?

...and record the look on his face and post it on YouTube?

I'm pretty much at a loss for words. Either he's flagrantly ignoring the obvious implications or he's so profoundly stupid he truly doesn't understand that Obama didn't win 50%+ of the population's votes, he won 50%+ of the votes of the people who actually voted.

OK, after all the cr@p that Tinsley has distributed over time, this one really got to me.

Never has he made the choice more clear: Is Tinsley an idiot --i.e. he really does believes what he wrote-- or is he a liar --i.e. he really doesn't believe what he wrote. I felt there really was no third choice here.

But maybe I spoke too soon....

I then decided the only reasonable thing was to write Tinsley and try to ask him --perhaps phrasing my question more diplomatically than I've done here-- which was the case.

However, I now find that he has stopped including his email address in the strip, so Tinsley is apparently no longer accepting direct responses to his blatant misinformation[*].

So, it looks like I was wrong. There is a third choice.

Bruce Tinsley: Idiot, liar, or coward?

[* Note that yesterday's strip does contain the nearly indecipherable scrawl for MallardFillmore.com, but even if you go there, there is nothing like a "contact" link, etc that is a standard on such sites.]

NLC: I choose (d) all of the above.

Also, if lying and denial are truly bad for your health, if you pile that on top of the no-doubt incipient cirrhosis, ol' Brucie's got six months to live, tops.

Please don't tell me he's going to run with this all week. Please, no, no, no, no!

Tinsley is getting old. The progressive movement from the younger generation is not driven by war-protest hippies. The "must be drugged" jokes are increasingly being pushed into the category of cane shaking lawn chasing.

But I understand why they need it. The positions alone are not shining examples of common sense or logic anymore, so they'd rather believe that the other side is delusional as a result of drug abuse, excessive alcohol consumption, and slacking.

Gold-Digging Nanny said...

See, I didn't get the analogy to drug use at all. Oh no. I assumed he meant lesbianism.

'Cause it's totally gay to vote Democrat.

You stay classy, Tinsley.

Dangit, rewinn beat me to it.

Oh, and DaveyK - it's not that Mallard is as stupid as you thought ...

... it's that he thinks his readers are as stupid as you thought.

And ... who knows? he may be right!

Tinsley's email WAS mallardmail@gmail.com, for the record, although he never responded to my emails, no matter how civil I tried to be.

And can someone explain to me the purpose of the "I might just be wantin' a bagel with my coffee" guy?

Factinista said...

I'm thinking that Tinsley's come to the realization that more of his followers are detractors rather than fans. That would also explain his whole "my readers are stupid" angle and the mysterious disappearance of his email address.

Remember, kids, leave lying and denial to the experts. This has been a public service message from the GOP: "We're working this side of the street!"

WV: sessem. Bush's legacy, spelled backwards.

This was just too egregious. I wrote Tinsley a polite email informing him that he made a mistake. So, expect an apologetic retraction strip tomorrow!

Aww, isn't that cute? Doggy's got a new chew toy.

What Lagomorph man said.

How many people admitted to voting for McCain?

(And if 35% voted for Obama, that's a pretty high number of voters!)

Also, hello, who did you poll?

Remember, kids! Racism is dead!

Actually, Anonyrast attempted the same plot with a candy bar under the box, but local parents got wind of it and beat him severely about the head and neck with shovels. Sadly, they left him only brain-damaged and not dead.

Please undergo a swift yet painful death soon, Anonyrast.

There was an email going around, with a picture of AF1's 'new' tail number: N166ER.
But it's outrageous to assume there was any racism in anti-Obama campaigns.

My money's on "he's just that dumb". Anyone who goes after a 50% approval after their boy was at 20% for a year+ isn't playing with a full deck of marbles in the drawer.

John McCain got 48% of the votes cast in the 2008 election, but in this poll only 30% of respondents admitted to voting for him.

By that logic, 18% percent of the country's population had been loyal Republicans, but have now switched to Team Obama after seeing how good a job he's done as President.

Most alcoholic cartoonists voted for Jim Beam over Jack Daniels. Yet, when I asked Tinsley to admit who he voted for, he met me with a torrent of abuse. I call that a "won't say."
